Ok but the key words there are intetended and elbow (i'll add head for good measure). At the end of the day you cant do it and he should know better... If the ref got a better view it would've been a straight red and ban for games we NEED him for.“…Slip like Freudian, your first and last step to playing yourself like accordion.”

The red did have a good view and obviously saw it how I did. If he hadn't had a good view we would still be arguing over a possible suspension because the FA would be mulling it over.Originally posted by squaddie View PostOk but the key words there are intetended and elbow (i'll add head for good measure). Tbh, im not really arsed. He didnt get sent off and he didnt get a ban so there's no point splitting hairs.... But if you sincerely think Stevie didnt do anything wrong or it was an accident or whatever.... One of us needs to go to Specsavers.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostThe red did have a good view and obviously saw it how I did. The thing is if Gerrard had been given a straight red he really couldn't have complained. It was at best ill judged and at worst moronic and thuggish. Sadly the more I see it the more towards the later end it looks (although I accept looks can be deceptive). I think a week after Gerrard flashed a v at the referee is a bad time to emphasise how much more responsible he has become.
I take the point in some ways that to succeed in the PL a degree of fight is sometimes needed. However I have to say it is something that is ruining the game in this country. This season the standard of football has been generally awful and I have watched more matches not involving us than those involving us. While I think he was wrong to criticise Shawcross in the specific instance in general I think Wenger is right to call on referees to be harsher on foul play."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I disagree about how you see Gerrard, but the specsavers comment did make me laughOriginally posted by squaddie View PostTbh, im not really arsed. Would be nice to see a more skilled and technical game, but this is England and you don't get that all the time. You play teams like Blackburn and Bolton and if you don't dish it out you get steam rollered. The Man Utd v Arsenal games of the past our how the game should be played. High skill level, great attacking and defending, but lots of battle and tough challenges.Originally posted by dww View PostThe thing is if Gerrard had been given a straight red he really couldn't have complained. Play like that week in week out and a team will go places.Forwards.......

WTF? I said it was IMO. I think you need to take a deep breath, and btw your reply is certainly not in the manner of enouraging discussion.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostPlay within the letter of the law? Are you mad? Every defender in the country gives a sly boot to the attacker at the earliest available opportunity. I can assure you they do not play within the laws, but outside.
To many people on here dreaming of football in the 20's when it was a gentlemans game. Different era and different standards. It's not the 70's anymore, but we still need to get stuck in. Of late Liverpool haven't done that enough in my book.
The best midfielders of the 90's, Keane and Viera were always booting the opposition. If you think good conduct breeds a winning side in England, you've lost your marbles.
And whilst I wouldn't condone Gerrard giving Brown a good pasting on the pitch, I've already given my opinion and explained myself as to how I saw the incident. And just because you disagree it doesn't make me wrong.
When you are privvy to gerrards mind and thoughts I'll accept that you have a better opinion than mine. Until that distant far off day, I'll continue to give my ten pence worth and encourage discussion.
In my opinion you can play firm but fair, I think Gerrard took it too far, never said I knew what Gerrard was/is thinking. That's just my 10 pence.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I think it was definitely deliberate. Brown had been at him all game - surprise surprise - and it was only a matter of time before he pushed Gerrard too far. Stevie saw the blatant obstruction attempt coming, thought '**** you pal, not this time' and ****ted him. He must be feeling very satisfied now knowing he got away with it.Originally posted by dww View PostThat's the way it looks to me too. Brown begins to raise his arm slightly but Gerrard goes in much beyond an attempt to defend himself. Also the look down after and possible words make it look even more like a deliberate attack to me.
I'd love to elbow Michael Brown in the head.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The bit in bold says it all for me as to what has been missing all season and I'm sorry for mentioning the two scapegoats but it is becuase, IMO, Lucas and Kuyt were not playing.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI think this is maybe due to him having more options, the movement was good in team and players usually had options, as opposed to the one option "pass back to defence/keeper"
With Lucas out, and he has played and improved this season, we had another midfielder looking forward, moving forward rather than doing his job of ball winning.
With Kuyt out we had a RM/RW who didn't just run up and down the flank and who could control the ball. I know I've said it before but I do not think Kuyt is good enough for LFC, well especially as a RM/RW although I would maybe consider keeping him on as a back-up striker or as a second striker in a 4-4-2 as I do think he has a tendency to be in the right place at the right time as far as his goals are concerned.

I have been defending Lucas but I agree about him, they both have their roles to play though IMO. Against Portsmouth, I know they are ****, Mascherano and Aquilani completely dominated midfield with Aquilani going more forward see http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/c...2D9d1IF9Dg7bE0Originally posted by SimonNo7 View PostThe bit in bold says it all for me as to what has been missing all season and I'm sorry for mentioning the two scapegoats but it is becuase, IMO, Lucas and Kuyt were not playing.

I didn't say it wasn't. Though I only quoted you, the reply wasn't just aimed at you. So take a deep breath and don't get so over sensitive next time, okay?Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostWTF? I said it was IMO. That said, I could see how my post would come across as misleading, but I'm too lazy to qoute everyone

Apart from the forearm smash, I didn't think he did that much last night, continued to look pissed off with all and sundry, and was trying to score too often, when teammates were in a better position.
This isn't a slag off post, but me thinks somethings still not right with Steven Gerrard.I make no apologies, this is me

I think he feels he needs to do moreand feels he is letting the team and fans down by not scoring. He has high standards and is gutted he has been off form of late.Originally posted by Deano View PostApart from the forearm smash, I didn't think he did that much last night, continued to look pissed off with all and sundry, and was trying to score too often, when teammates were in a better position.

I noticed that as well, was hoping he'd get one to calm the nerves, thought he needed to score.Originally posted by Deano View PostApart from the forearm smash, I didn't think he did that much last night, continued to look pissed off with all and sundry, and was trying to score too often, when teammates were in a better position.
