I not really got much more to add to this as everything's been covered and iv had my say on Aquilani.

But im really surprised at how little mention Torres is getting for his display last night. He was ****ing awesome, don't be taking him for granted. 2 goal and 2 assists! Rafa gave him a bit of support and movement behind him FINALLY and he did the business

It was off target, and therefore a poor effort, especially from inside the box, should be hitting the target from there. Rooney would have scored that.

I've never understanded the retaliation rule in football. Why is it ok for someone to make the decision to go in 2 footed or high or in this case to attempt a forearm/elbow block, but the split second retaliation is always treated worse???

Brown goes in first on Gerrard, so is at least equally guilty IMO (if you consider the incident in isolation).

But doesn't the referee talk to Gerrard after the incident? in which case the FA can't take further action as the referee was deemed to have dealt with it at the time (If I understand the FA rules, and the haven't changed them again)

Sorry mate but thats just bollocks. He was ****in miles away at a difficult angle.... No one was expecting him to have a go.... He did and it was a great effort... Put it this way, if it went in it would have been contender for goal of the month.

Torres getting fitter now is a huge part of last nights performance, allied as it was, to other big players doing well too. . If only we had enough cash to buy a couple more big players in the Torres vein, it hurts to think that if we had the cash, we could possibly persuade players like David Villa to join us and his mates at LFC, but he'll probably make a different choice in the summer...especially as we won't even be able to offer him LFC as one of his career options, the same likely applies to the other most sought after names of the summer.

In order to go in, it would have had to have been on target. Sadly, Torres wasn't good enough to even manage that small matter.

Obviously scratch is on a windup here, but if you wanted to be technical, you could say that the target is obviously the goal and the post, being part of the goal, is therefore part of the target.

Thought when i saw it..and on seeing it again today....several times , if that Babel strike had gone in it would have been a contender for goal of the season...the build up was superb between Gerrard and Aquilani...'nutmeg'.....and finally Babels side footed shot...if only that had nestled in the top corner..

Babel took his goal well though...when he does things like that...he looks class....let it come across his body to fool the defender then hit/place it quickly through a crowd just inside the post.

Portsmouth at home/Manchester United away - spot the difference. Do you honestly believe the best way to get results against those teams is to set up the same way?

going by the past 29 league games where rafa has set up exactly the same way ( defensive / negative 4-5-1 with 2 holding midfiled and no pace on wings ) then i say yes the best way to approach the manure game is to attack like we did against pompey. the performance was night and day compared with every other league game this season.

it was broke, it got fixed......why change back to the broke way??
