No, it was funny. Started off talking and Reina was taking the piss off camera (i think) so he burst out laughing and said "Sorry..My English...".

      Made me chuckle anyway.

Bit harsh mate. Lucas has improved on last season but his performances have dipped quite a lot since earlier this year. Aquilani produced more in this game than Lucas has in the past 4.

Lucas is a tidy player. He plays nice short passes, rarely gives away possession, and works hard. But in a side that is crying out for someone to take some responsibility he's not effective. He should be competing with Mascherano to play that defensive midfield role, because Lucas doesn't have the creativity to be an effective partner for him.

I dont think that's being ignorant. I've watched every match in some form or another this season and I've made that judgement having seen them play together many times.

And as for Kuyt. Again, his performances have dipped a lot recently. He needed a rest. Hopefully he will come back refreshed - and he'll know he's got some serious competition for the right mid spot from Maxi.

I have no problem with that, but that is not the approach that has been often seen.

Disagree about Lucas though, I don't think his performance has dropped.

It's not personal abuse, Matt. Both are Liverpool players
and have all my respect as individuals, but any stick they are taking is because of their performances.

Kuyt has had a woeful season. People keep referring back to last season, when he was great, but this season he has constantly given the ball away in games. When he has been played on his own up front has been very poor. Defend him for running around and being a great servant if you want but his effect on the games this season has been minimal.

As for Lucas, again, nothing personal, but his contribution to the attacking part of our game has been nil. For me he is not as good as Mascherano if we are going with one defensive mid. The fact that we go with two is not Lucas' fault, it's Rafa's.

Granted Kuyt has played wank the last few games but if it wasnt for his important goals when Torres and Gerrard were out we'd be even deeper in the **** than we are now. Lucas has also had a pretty decent season and is constantly improving. Personally for most games i'd like to see either Masch or Lucas in the holding role and a more attacking CM. Both are very important first team players even if they don't start every game.

Thought we played well tonight but with the more attacking skills of Aquilani we lose a lot of defensive quality....as someone just mentioned he's not one for a tackle is he!? It's all well and good spraying it around and looking the dogs bollocks against the bottom side but i doubt he'd get anywhere near as much space against most Premiership teams and as such i'm gonna reserve judgement....one swallow doesnt make a summer and all that. Saying that though he ****ing rocked tonight

Would be interesting to see Lucas in instead of Mascher for Lille

Kuyt is one of the weak links, no pace or creativity and he has none of the tricks a winger needs. Its not his fault that Rafa plays him there, but as he does, I think he's utter garbage out wide.

Lucas is an average player, not bad, but playing him and Mascherano in the same team is retarded. Again, not his fault that Rafa chooses to do this, but when he does, I'm afraid it reflects badly on him.

If we had everyone fit, the pair of them would only ever get a run out in the last few minutes of a 2 goal lead if I had a choice.

That Gerrard incident, fair enough he caught him with his forearm, but it looked to me as though Brown purposely went to block Gerrards run and Brown put his own arm\elbow up first. Gerrard looked like he raised his to protect himself and caught Brown on th back of the head. That's what I'd be claiming anyway if I were Gerrard. That Brown cunt deserved it anyway.

Brown was playing Gerrard all game, not surprised Stevie flipped. Brown definitely came out with his arm first.

Yeah definitely, epecially if Javier is carrying an injury. I think Lucas could be a great player in that role for us in the next few years.
