He's lacking a bit of confidence though, evident in the way he'd rather pass than shoot. Perhaps he's less selfish than I'd imagined and he does seem a good team player. The Argies and Spaniards are totally different from glory hunting Brazilians and Portuguese

I was actually wondering myself yesterday how he's scored so many throughout his career as he does appear very selfless.

Thought all our Argentine contingent played well yesterday, especially Mascherano.

maxi is a decent enough player but is the type / kind of player we already have ( a yossi / kyut player )


we need someone who will play quick attacking wing play ( a malouda / valencia / nani / walcott etc... ). if maxi isnt working out in a game then a kyut or yossi player wont either.....and vice versa.

in short, not a bad squad player but no better ( and no different ) than we already had / have.

A yossi / kuyt type player? wtf is that?

Kuyt = Slow and Steady, Good Retention, High work rate, Good in a tight space

Yossi = Tricky runner, likes one-twos, lightweight, attack minded


The only similarity is that they dont have blistering pace, other than that they are like chalk and cheese. The grass always seeems greener on the other side and its easy to slip into the idea that anyone with pace would be an improvement, but given the talk of wanting a more intricate, flowing football, what is more important is intelligence of movement and decisions combined with quality/precision of passing. Nanni, Malouda and Walcott haven't done much for years and provide much less to their teams from the right than Kuyt has done for our underperforming team. The last thing we need is aimless pace IMO.
