    we babdly need :

    a new left back
    an out and out winger
    a world class striker
    and a new central defender

insua is not the answer.....far from it. new blood is needed to give some defensive stability and a threat going forward....insua gives neither.

a winger to hit the bye line and cross. all great teams have at least one......we have none.

ngog cant cut it so when torres out we're ****ed. we need a villa or aguero to come in.

carra and zorba getting on and skittles a liability. agger is class but a kjaer type would be great.
The problem is Maxi and Ngog, probably Skrtel as well are worth more to us now than we'd get if we were to sell them, they are all decent squad players and we wouldn't be able to replace them for what we could sell them for.

I can't see us getting much more than £10m for the first 5 players you listed possibly £16-18m if you include Skrtel. IMO unless we can get some bargins we'd be lucky to get two players for that money and we've lost 4 players who are regularly involved in the first team, weakening our squad further.

IMO to improve our squad we'll have to sell at least one of Benayoun, Babel or Kuyt, these are the players on the fringes of the team that we could get a decent fee for and are replaceable.

I think Benayoun should go. I think Maxi is a better fit for the team. I know Benayoun scores goals but this season when there was a need for him to step up he gave very little. When we are doing well he is a very useful player but he has a decent market value and we need to bring in players who can help us function in situations where things are going our way and/or Gerrard and Torres are out.

Babel is a difficult one - he is clearly improving and offers us a direct pacey threat - something that we don't otherwise have and would have to pay a lot to aquire. That said despite his newly found work ethic he is still a player lacking in intelligence and guile.

Skrtel I also can't decide about - when he plays well (like Arsenal this season) he looks great but he isn't decisive enough for me and unlike Agger his ball playing skills don't help advance the team. I guess it would depend on the fee we might get and any possible replacements that could be found.

There are a lot of players who might not raise a huge amount who will probably be sold or farmed out with a view to a sale: Plessis, Spearing, Darby, Ecclestone and perhaps even Nemeth. The trouble is that they are unlikely to raise big money.

We'll get a few bob for Riera, N'gog, El Zhar, Aurelio and others....

          There's 10m in that lot.

Aurelio will go on a free.

Ngog should stay and continue his development. I'd be very happy for him to be third or fourth choice striker.

Selling Maxi is a laughably crazy notion and one that simply isn't going to happen FFS.

I'd sell El Zhar, Degen, Plessis, Riera if he hasn't already gone, and Babel. I'm assuming Aurelio will leave on a free and Cavalieri seems set to leave.

I'd forgotten about the Cavalieri thing. Are any of our 4000 young keepers ready for the step up do we think or will we have to splash out again?

Hopefully that should raise £25 million and I'd spend it on a left back and a left sided attacker presuming this Jocovich has signed and he is Torres back up.
Only if Peter Ridsdale is buying.

Yossi's one of only three real matchwinners we've got, and far more of a threat than Maxi, who's solid and holds his discipline, but isnt really a genuine goal threat.

We also have San Jose, playing regulary in La Liga. What`s his clause? Around £3M?

If you sell Ryan Babel we don't have a single pacey, wide attacking player. Not one.

i'm unsure on a few players too - ie skrtel – i think he has the potential to be very good, has suffered injuries which haven’t helped along with a dip in form/loss of confidence which seemed to happen to everyone in the team at some stage this season other than reina.

My issues with who should sell and who we should sign – all come down to the investment/money available – if we had serious investment and serious money then i’d be happy selling Skrtel, aurelio, riera, babel, benayoun, aquilani, kuyt, and a load of the lesser names you mention that i’ve put in bold – and then go out and spend like £100m plus on better replacements/improving the squad etc

Sadly though it aint’ going to happen which is why replacing the likes of skrtel etc can’t be done. The position we are in, we need to get the most out of what we have, and hope that we can somehow add two or three good players to improve us overall

I’d agree with Exiledred – One of Kuyt/Benayoun/Babel to be sold with one top class replacement to come in straight into the first team. – I’d prefer to keep kuyt, properly the strongest ‘squad’ player out the three.

With reira to be sold – aurelio probably out, and then a load of the others – plessis, darby, spearing, nemeth, eccleston and probably el zhar – and some miracle that some how gives us say £20m to spend on top of sales, we might just somehow muster up about £35m to spend –

That’s probably the best we can hope for i reckon - which means it’s vital that we don’t lose any main players, and even more important that we get the signings right this summer!

A left back has to be a priority – I like insua but has certainly struggled at times being pretty much the only left back we have – so another left back with insua as back up would be nice – say £10m

Then a winger – arda turan seems to be the name people want how much for i don’t know but if we got him in for around £15m that would be nice

Leaving us with £10m too spend on the other priority – another striking option that can either partner/cover torres as and when. –

If that happened and left us with something like the below then i think we will have had a good summer.

                          gk
                          Reina
                          Cavalieri

                          rb
                          Johnson
                          Kelly

                          cb
                          Agger
                          Carra
                          Skrtel
                          Kyriakos

                          lb
                          New left back
                          Insua

                          midfielders
                          Mascher
                          Gerrard
                          Lucas
                          Aquilani

                          rm
                          Maxi
                          Kuyt

                          lm
                          Turan
                          Babel/yossi

                          strikers
                          Torres
                          New striker
                          Ngog
                          Pacheco

a 22 man squad - so in essence two 'good' players for each position (obv depending on formation, and we have a few who can play in other positions so it doesn't have to be a rigid as the list above), 3 new faces - i think would improve us immensley from this season.

                          I'd take that now
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
