Thread has been well and truely hijacked. From who to sign, to who to sell.

In summary...It would be a good summer if we sold Kuyt, Babel, Insua and Lucas and bought no-one

Selling Maxi is a laughably crazy notion and one that simply isn't going to happen FFS.

I'd sell El Zhar, Degen, Plessis, Riera if he hasn't already gone, and Babel. I'm assuming Aurelio will leave on a free and Cavalieri seems set to leave.
I'd get someone else in and send N'Gog out on loan to a less pressurised environment. At 22, he'll need regular games to develop.

That would possibly leave the new striker, Kuyt, Jovanovic or Babel as cover for Torres.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I've noticed a number of people mentioning getting rid of the younger resvere players the likes of Spearing, Darby, Plessis, and El Zhar etc. I'm in two minds about this, on the one hand I don't think they'll make it and could be holding back players with a better chance further down the chain. But on the other hand I feel in the tight financial position we're in, we will be weakening our squad alot, particularly if we have to sell some of the other more high profile squad players (Riera, Aurelio, Benayoun Babel, Degen and Skrtel have all been mentioned) and wonder if it might be worth hanging on to some of them for emergency options as any fee will be minimal
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

again it's difficult - one one hand we can't leave the squad threadbare, and on the other we have a load of players who could/should be sold.

wouldn't it be nice to just know we had £100m to go and improve/strengthen the squad, none of the main players will go so we don't have to worry bout replacements and we could just splash out on a left back, a winger or two, a striker - and then a 3 or 4 others in various positions

                Ah, ok!

Perfect, we'll just snap up one of those plentiful, cheap, fast, goal scoring wide players on the market!

Goal scoring?! 5 goals this season and about 15 in his entire LFC career?!
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

                    Reira £6m

So that's realistic and comes to 24m.

I think we'll soon arrive at certain crossroads regarding the youngsters, none of these four will make it but I think the next generation might have a chance of supplementing the squad, Pacheco, LDV, Amoo and co. So I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them go like Spearing, Darby, Martin amongst others.

Who's gonna pay £4m for Kyrgiakos, just after we bought him for £1m?

                        How's his value quadrupled?

Wont get £10m for Babel or even £2m for Degen.

                          4 for the greek ?

2 for degen? when you buy degen you have to have at least 1 full time medic wage to.

I'm not against the big greek but I think Carra, Agger and Skrtel are all better than him, we bought him on the cheap and can sell for a profit, bring in a left sided defender who's 2nd position is centre half or promote Ayala or bring back San Jose as the 4th centre half.
Completely seperate arguement but we are the only 'top 6' side who pick specific centre halfs for specific games.
The other 3 are internationals, we shouldn't need Kyriakos to head it against Bolton and Blackburn etc...

                              - a new left back (ideally english but for the life of me cant think of a single one that may be available)
                              - joe cole (on a free)
                              - David silva

add to that jovanovic and we have probably enough to challenge again.thats a total spend of maybe £35m ish and i would sell the following:

kuyt (dont need him because cole & rodriguez on the right)
                              degen (no comment needed)
yossi benayoun (29 and if we can get a few quid for him then it should be put towards david silva)
albert riera (exactly same as above leaving babel and silva for the left)

If I was being really picky I would ask for another solid midfield player - someone young and english. Maybe a cattermole or michael johnson.

We got £2m for Voronin didn't we so surely someone in Belguim or Holland is stupid enough to pay a couple of mill for Degan!

As for Kyriakos if we decided to sell there would be 3 or 4 lower prem sides after him now they have seen him play in the PL for us.
