    Benfica build-up

A draw would be lovely and even a 2-1 defeat wouldn't be a complete disaster.

However we need to keep the momentum going and a defeat sets us back yet again.

Lucas & Mascherano in CM with Gerrard off Torres? I'd think so. Maybe change it at the weekend, go for it at Brum. Maxi will be a big miss for this game, he'd be perfect for it.

Gonna be a big game in front of a mad crowd. Di Maria, Aimar, Cardozo, Saviola et al are no mugs - suddenly this tin pot competition feels proper.

It goes without saying that a win would be absolutely fantastic, but given we've won FOUR away games all season I prefer to be realistic. A draw would be a good result and I suspect 95% of Reds would take a draw now.

They are bloody strong at home and will most definitely score. Its just a question of restricting them to 1 goal rather than 2 or 3. They have pace to burn so I think Rafa will set up deep and very defensively

I hope we can just keep the momentum we have at the moment.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yeah you're right mate. I only go to the glory games, like all the league ones.

In complete fairness, we should beat these no problems. They beat Everton, smashed them in fact, but they were a complete joke of a team and ready for a smashing.

We seem to be in form atm and should be looking to get a good, positive result. I expect a win tbh.
                            Forwards.......

Our 'on form' status still includes being ****e away from home.

And Benfica are clear at the top of their league, very strong at home and full of confidence, not to mention several very good players like Di Maria, Javi Garcia, Cardozo, Ramires, Sidnei, Aimar and Saviola.

They sit 6 points clear at the top of the Portugese league, with a home record of 12 games played, 11 wins and 1 draw. No home defeats.

They're well supported at their 65,000 Stadium of Light and winning there is no easy feat, especially with our shoddy away performances.

I'd be more than content with a score draw.
