Just to clarify is this 42 goals in hislast 42 games at Anfield? According to wikipedia he has 72 goals in 116 games, so he must have played more than 42 games at Anfield.

He has 56 league goals in 79 games, assuming ~half the games are home and half are away is the record of 40 goals in 41 games just for the premiership at Anfield? I suspect this is more likely, I'm sure the vast majority of league goals were at home. This seems more likely IMO
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Just saw his goal again against the Mancs on MOTD - lovely little shimmy to bamboozle "Nevs" leaving the latter nowhere near him when the ball was crossed.

His goalscoring record compensates for his failings. He's incredible in that department. He still needs to improve his ball retention skills and link up play. Sometimes he just embarks on runs which leads him to nowhere and we lose the ball as a result, inviting pressure on us.

I make that 18 goals in 20 starts - incredible , and possibly goals per game , his best season yet

Sounds plausible, definitely. And .no's stats of 49 in 59 at Anfield sound plausible as well.

According to Steve Hunter on LFC TV he is 1 goal away from netting his 50th at Anfield so I am officially confused now because I thought it was 42 in 42 ?
