    Torres out for a while...

Liverpool FC have confirmed that striker Fernando Torres will undergo surgery on a knee injury later this evening.

A club spokesman said: "Fernando saw a specialist in Spain earlier today and it was decided that he would need surgery on a torn cartilage in his right knee.

"This will be carried out later tonight. We cannot comment ahead of the operation, but as a guide, the usual rehabilitation period for this type of procedure is around six weeks."

I just want the lad to get some proper rest so he can come back firing next season. Won't happen of course with the WC around the corner.

                  And Dick Out.

Seriously though, with this operation now and the world cup, I don't expect him to be fully fit for next season.

I would love David Villa and with new owners you never know. But i would pay no more than £25m due to his age Valencia are smoking crack if they think he is worth more than that again due to his age. I would go for Aguero if we were to spend £30m on a striker.

See, I thought Ngog was OK at the start of the season when he scored that run of goals, but he's gone right off the boil recently. Kuyt does pop up with important goals from time to time but he's a one in three or one in four player for us. Gerrard has scored a handful this year, Benayoun only a couple too.

Would be good to see Maxi getting on that scoresheet, and Johnson has a decent goalscoring record for a fullback.

Just worrying that we have no firepower at all without Torres.

Don't get me wrong i think Ngog is a good player but he has had too much pressure put on his shoulders this season as without torres he is our leading striker. I personally think he should be loaned out to another prem side for a season so he can play week in week out to get more experience.

Gutted for him. That'll be four times we've played Atletico since he signed and he's missed every one of them.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
