Maxi has been a great signing so far, absolute bargain. Can see him pushing Kuyt for starting place on the left.

But Gerrard played alongside Mascherano. The set-up is the same. Obviously Gerrard is more inclined to go forward than Lucas and is better at it. That's the only difference.Originally posted by el matador View Postone defensive midfield player not two. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

begs the question why benitez paid £10m for himOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostYeah Babel was pants, as was Dirk who had an absolute shocker - he really is no centre-forward at this level. Ayala did really well against seasoned centre-forwards.
The guys on sunday supplement today seemed fairly convinced that benitez was on his way to juve.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Been saying that while others have been putting him on a plane back to Italy.
One of the only players in our squad who always looks to get into or create space rather than turning into a statue.

The first half was a bit of a non-event. Ignore the comments of the usual doom-monger suspects about the first-half. Burnley had one good chance for a header but it was straight down Reina's throat. That was about it really. We were never under pressure but also looked clueless at the other end. Once Stevie Me's deflected one went in, Burnley just folded. Gerrard's second goal was sheer class, in fairness. Babel was awful throughout, even if he did get the last goal. He's got appalling close control and loses it very easily 99% of the time. Maxi looks good on the right and an honourable mention for young Ayala, who played very well at the back and showed a lot of maturity for a lad of 19Originally posted by Marsh View Posthavent watched it so how did it go?
the first half seemed suicidal from reading on here.
what changed? or was it jsut that we got a goal?

Agreed, he's been quality, he's great on the ball and he's been getting chances on goal in pretty much every game. You can see why he's got so many career goals and add that to his work rate and on the ball skill and he's a hell of a player.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostMaxi is excellent and if we can strengthen other areas, he'll be a major player for us next season. Very clever player, we don't have enough with his intelligence and technical ability.

Against Wigan we played the same that was lauded for their wins at Anfield.

But you make it sound like waving a magic wand. The moronic Benitez with no idea about this most obvious solution that even the fans can see.Originally posted by el matador View Postyes shaggy but that's a big difference.
Gerrard/Mascherano or Gerrard/Lucas have been our middle 2 enough times with **** results to know that's not the case. The only difference is performance. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

not just wigan and pompey mate.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWell at Pompey Masch also got himself sent off before half time.
we've been pretty **** in most away games this season because we've gone there with a defensive mentality.
Does anyone know out of the total amount of games weve lost (17 or 18) how many have been away from home ?
i agree with shaggy that aquilani looked good today but i still dont believe that he can play in a centre midfield of two but could play well in a midfield 3 of a 433.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]
