Atletico post-match downer

To be honest I could see this coming, Atletico are a good team and our squad was decimated. Kuyt as a lone striker doesn't work at the best of times, he didn't look fit from the start, fair play to him we worked hard but it didn't really work for him. We had a make shift defence with two players playing out of position. The lack of depth in our squad is glaring no left back available, no decent cover at right back, thanks to the exile of Riera we had no options at left midfield, and thanks to the injuries upfront no options on the right the team picked itself because that's all we have avaliable. Our only options from the bench were Pacheco (a 19 year old inexperienced kid) and Ngog (injured) none existant. But we had to use them as players were out on their feet. I don't know what happened in extra time, we used to have high fitness levels, but in ET everyone looked shagged out.

Why do we persist with sticking El Zhar and Degen on the bench? Seriously I don't see what El Zhar offers, and Degen is so bad that we'd rather play a midfielder at right back than play him. I'd rather stick two kids from the reserves on the bench, at least they might have a future at the club.

I know mate but i take exception to being called a knob for showing my feelings about our loss and not winning a trophy when people post like it doesn't matter. The same people who no doubt were made up when we won it in 2001.

Basically we ran out of steam and ideas. Subs were puzzling but not a right lot onbench.

Not sure why I was lambasted fir saying we were cheatedcos we were. Nor why I was accused with saying it after every defeat cos idont. Queer.

we missed maxi and torres today.

The subs bench was pretty uninspiring and if you are carra or stevie you've gotta be thinking that this is it. We've got to do the job because there's no cavalry.

Rafa put out an attacking team today, still he's been pilloried for not winning or drawing the first game. I think we just played poorly in Madrid, not to do with team tactics. We wouldn't have scored anyway even if we had a team full or attacking players that day, the players seemed tired.

Torres injured. But apart from him, who else would have got into that Starting 11 realistically.

We have zero Options, yet we still mess around with the 1st eleven when they are all fit ( I take on board that all our best players have rarely been fit this season at the same time, I'm just being an arse)
