Aquiliani or Lucas?

Is Aquiliani better than Lucas from the last few games that we've seen him?

Imo Aquiliani has a better eye for a goal, he hit the bar 2 times in the last 2 games and scored a very good goal vs Benfica. That's why I will not criticize Rafa for buying him (after criticizing him from Sept-March)

Lucas has done an excellent improvement this year, he doesn't deserve the treatment some of us slated him in the past. Even though he doesn't score enough goals for the likes of Lfc.

Taking such a risk on a replacement for such a key player was always something that could easily backfire, and did. Regardless of how he turns out it was a bad decision, it was not the time to go a crocked player.

Hopefully he'll turn out well long term, there are signs and there's every reason for hope.

I'll agree with that. I'd like to see Aquaman play more than Lucas as I feel he offers more of a goal threat and plays well higher up the pitch.He's my kind of player

While we have Mascher, we dont need Lucas, but we do need some flair, Aquiliani can provide that flair.

Yeah we really only need Lucas on as a 2nd defensive mid when we play top sides but Rafa likes to play both he and Mash and it's too defensive against dross sides, but he does it anyway.

We're not in a position to improve on either of them and as they have both improved throughtout the season I would keep them both.
Lucas is much, much better than a lot give him credit for but he suffers from idiots like Henry Winter picking on him for no reason and obviously suffered by being the one who replaced Alonso in the side even though he could never be considered a like for like replacement in style.
Aquilani appears to have benifited from being eased in and treated carefully after his injuries, we'll never know if he would have improved us halfway through the season when he was sub a lot.

Most foreign players take a season to settle. Add his injuries and the fact Liverpool have been in transition and it's been a very tough settling in period for Aquilani. It may have been bad judgement to buy him due to him being injured, but that should not be held against the player.

We will see next season if he has enough about him to warrant a place in our starting XI. He shows some neat touches but it's all about whether he can grab a game by the scruff of the neck. He hasn't shown he can do that just yet.

But are chances of the title, whilst probably non existant anyway, will defo be gone if we were to swap Gerrard for Lucas next year. In fact, I'd probably wave goodbye to 4th place as well.

I seriously doubt that. The team this year was unlucky with injuries and under performed. With no massive CL games I think we will be better placed to finish higher in the league.

[I]f the team stayed injury free it is probably good enough fo finish on about 80 or so points, maybe more. But staying injury free looks a long shot with the players we have. Agger and Torres to name but two seem to be made of paper maiche. I'd add Aurelio but I think it is safe to say he is off.
