i fear on the back of what torres has said that if we dont bring in 4 or 5 QUALITY players he is off....and much as it would kill me i cant blame him...like someone has said earlier in this thread players like torres and gerrard should have quality around them..they could move to any team they wish and get it...god knows how we will get the money to do this though...it is all so sad...we get a player like torres wanting to play for us and we risk losing him cos he has to play with ****Comment

I reckon Riera, Babel, Aurelio, El Zhar and Degan to name but 5 will leave the Club.
Bearing in mind our squad is already lacking in numbers i think we actually need 7-8 signings this summer.

I would keep Benny.
However I can see why people might want to let him go - 1, we're short of funds and we'd be able to get reasonable money for him; 2, he's not really set the world alight this season; 3, I don't think he's defensively disciplined enough for Rafa's system, unless he's played behind the strikerComment

Not disciplined enough? He's an attacking midfielder, why should he have to be disciplined. And he does put a shift in defensively when required.
Bottom line is Yossi's one of a few players in the squad that can go past players, has skill and is a proper quality footballer.Comment

I realise nobody's come out of this season particularly well, but after the back end of last season he was one of our shining lights. Many were hoping that he was one of the core group who could change a game, and so if Gerrard / Torres etc was off-form or missing, Benny would be a reliable match winner. I don't think you can count him as part of that group anymore.
The two wider AM's in Rafa's system do have defensive duties as such - far too often (particularly when on the left) Benny will loose his fullback which puts extra pressure on our LB (part of the reason for Insua's dodgy form IMO). I agree that as an AM he shouldn't have to worry about these things, but that's the system Rafa plays.
BTW, I did say I would keep him, he's a great option from the bench.Comment

Use Johnson right midfield, push Kuyt as a back-up striker.
Kelly as first chice right back
Buy a striker, left back and left wing.
CHANGE our tactics, stop defending 1-0 leads and conceding at the last minute.
Get Gagger back in central defence and partner him with Skittle.
Play 4-1-4-1 with a fit Torres.
Play 4-4-2 when he isnt fit.
