people talk a lot of trash about riise, but i wondered at the time if it was too soon.

I never thought Riise was as bad as some wanted to make out but in the PL where the pace is higher he lack of short passing and close technically control meant that he could not be as effective a link between defense and attack. He is also not a naturally hugely defensive fullback. Insua has had problems but I think if he can improve his decision making with experience then he will show himself to be an improvement.

I think we were right to try other options and Aurelio when fit was much more suitable for us than Riise. I guess the real shame is how bad our other replacement - Dossena - proved to be.
