Agreed, which is why I think we should stump up the cash for Huntellar, I'm sure him and Kuyt can develop a great understanding.Originally posted by lfc4everOK, I'll bite seeing no-one else has, he's no better than Bellamy, and I reiterate, would any other top 4 club actually want him as their striker?
We need to break the bank for a couple of creative players and let Kuyt be the main man, which is why we bought him in the first place isn't it?Thomas Hicks Senior

This all goes back to a thread we had last week.
If we were to blow the whole bank on one player to score/create the goals - who could guarantee it.
I believe there is only one person who would guarantee 20+ goals and that's Henry, and he isn't an option. Everybody else is a gamble, and if you are talking £20m, then it's a huge gamble.
'AJ' is a one dimensional player, that is doing well at the moment for a one dimensional team.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

20 million for Defoe is ridiculous money of course.Originally posted by CacodemonThis all goes back to a thread we had last week.

IMO, we've gambled 6 million on Bellamy to get us 20+ goals and there is absolutely no fcuking chance of that. For an extra couple of million, we may have got a striker who IMO is a goalscoring threat whenever he plays, is far better than he is given credit for and will get closer to the 20 goal target than Bellamy ever will.If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

I didnt see any of the top 4 beating down the doors of Crouch, Bellamy, Kuyt or Fowler either.Originally posted by lfc4everOK, I'll bite seeing no-one else has, he's no better than Bellamy, and I reiterate, would any other top 4 club actually want him as their striker?
Im sure that the Mancs were in for Defoe when he was at West Ham but they wanted too much money at the time?If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

Don't think it matters who we've got up front at the moment. The service to whoever plays there is pretty abysmal. Until we sort that out and cut back on the 30 yard efforts that go sailing over the bar or wide of the post, the strikers are never going to weigh in with 20 goals.Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely in a prettily preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways in a shower of gravel and party shards, thoroughly used, utterly exhausted, and loudly proclaiming: "F*** ME, that was BRILLIANT!"

In fairness, though, we didn't necessarily buy him for that reason. Kuyt seemed to be the one arriving with credentials that suggested he was capable of bagging 20+. Bellamy will chip in but I think, once he gets going, he will be just as useful service wise. His delivery for Crouch's goal in the charity shield, for instance, was particularly niceOriginally posted by Joe Le Toff20 million for Defoe is ridiculous money of course.
