That would be the equivalent of shelling out £60-70 million plus in todays football!!
The following season he resigned Rush for £2.7 million (again record transfer fee) which is probably the equivalent of spending £40 million on todays market
, 2) Aston Villa, 3) Tottenham Hotspur, 4) Arsenal; And our results v them were Aston Villa 1-1 (H) and 1-1 (A), Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 (H) and 0-1 (A), Arsenal 2-1 (H) and 1-1 (A). Against the Mancs that year we were 0-0 (H) and 2-1 (A).
2) Liverpool, 3) Crystal Palace ? 4) Leeds United; And our results v them were Arsenal 0-1 (H) and 0-3 (A), Crystal Palace 3-0 (H) and 0-1 (A), Leeds United 3-0 (H) and 5-4 (A). Our results against the Mancs were 4-0 (H) and 1-1 (A - ''the stupid handball Hysen'' game). Whilst resultsthe PREVIOUS seasons Top sides were Aston Villa 2-1 (H) and 0-0 (A), and Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 (H) and 3-1 (A). So no, we definitely DIDN'T get spanked or beaten by ALL the other top sides - bar Arsenal who ALWAYS made it bloody difficult for Kenny when he managed us in that era- back then.
