The thing is though that neither of them played as central strikers in Holland as far as I know. Also Kuyt's statistics for assists and goals from wide right bare comparison with any other player in the position in the PL over the time he has been here (with the exception of Christiano Ronaldo). I imagine for his critics it is quite annoying but he is a very effective player."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

£9m – Dirk Kuyt - He isn't worth £9m for a winger.Go an have a look at his goals / assists stats for 08/09 which say otherwise
£11.5m – Ryan Babel - As above.Hasn't turned out as we'd have liked, but at the time of signing I think we we're all happy. Hindsight eh?
£7m – Andrea Dossena - He was doomed to fail from the start. An Italian international, I think most people thought he would turn out better than he did
£19m – Robbie KeaneAnd we got most of the money back. He's not exactly done well since he left. If we'd kept him any longer we'd have lost significantly more.
£8m – Albert RieraDid well in his first season providing the balance we needed. Okay last season went a bit wrong. I think it was fairly well known he was a backup option, not a first choice.
£17.5m – Glen Johnson - £17.5m for a RB that can't defend ...Very harsh to call him crap. He's an England international and still got many top years ahead of him. I think he can defend reasonably well, he's just been affected by the poor form of our centre backs.
£17.1m – Alberto Aquilani - If Rafa stayed I bet he would have got sold like Dossena, maybe now he will have half a chance to succeed.

Kuyt has, of course he bloody has - and I'm one who took a lot of convincing over him and he still frustrates the hell out of me. Babel, obviously not.Originally posted by oldschool View PostHas Kuyt lived up to his price tag? Has Babel? Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Kuyt yes. Babel no.Originally posted by oldschool View PostHas Kuyt lived up to his price tag? Has Babel?
Babel however was a young player and in that market you are always taking a gamble. He had all the qualities we needed but the gamble didn't come off. That said he has improved markedly in the last 6 months and perhaps has more to give in the future."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Are you surprised that people are actually taking you seriously and responding to your points as if you were a real Liverpool fan?Originally posted by oldschool View PostHas Kuyt lived up to his price tag? Has Babel?I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Think of them as Inside Lefts and Inside Rights (that should fit in with your username). That's roughly where they play for Holland. I thinks its what Rafa had in mind as well, rather than out and out wingers.Originally posted by oldschool View PostOh that must be it after all they have done such a fantastic job for us thus far on the wing.

oldschool not sure you have the ability to think or look at facts but rafa is not the reason we are not the league champs.
the lack of funding has played much more of a role.
i think overall rafas buys have made sense. not all but then no manager has a 100% record in the transfer market.
if you put some of the so called failures in the market in context ie money available club dithering etc then they make sense.
however i dont expect you to understand as your logic is liverpool is great and should be winning things. the truth is that it doesnt happen by accident.

Before I started reading this thread, I thought more people would be for his sacking, given the horrendous season we just had.Originally posted by Fierce View PostAre you surprised that people are actually taking you seriously and responding to your points as if you were a real Liverpool fan?
I get that he wasn't given Chelsea type money, everyone knows that. However lets not make it out like he has had to sell to buy, which is not the case.
