I think you are probably right. The owners wanted him out, for sure, although we don't know all of the politics involved. Maybe we'll hear Rafa's side re not buying a striker soon enough.

i dont know about whether he expected more money but its a possibility. also he played the political game for his benifit but he needed to finish higher to maintian that position of power.

i am not sure many managers of his ilk would happily work under those conditions. remember maureen when he didnt feel backed by abramovic.

Real Madrid have high expectations and a high budget. Whether their expectations are realistic or not is another issue. No matter how good or expensive your squad is particularly in Cup competitions (CL included) one mistake or misjudgement can cost you which is why IMO defining your success in terms of cup competitions is wrong in my view. But Real Madrid have high expectations and have a high budget to back them up, expecting them to win the league give what they have spent isn't unrealistic. Expecting us to do so given our recent budgets is!

Frankly I think we have no chance of winning the league in the foreseeable future, that's like expecting Tottenham to do so. We just don't have the players nor the funds to do so. Results in the league correspond very closely to the wages team pay and recently the team with highest wages wins the league.

It's fairly straightforward, the team with the best players and the biggest squad stands the best chance of winning since there is not that much between the managers at the top clubs.

Stop dreaming about winning the league and accept our position amongst the other clubs, otherwise we'll never achieve anything. Now our targer should be 4th and nothing else.

i think the bad start painted the picture it meant we had to work at being solid and this explains the formations that with aqua not being fit and then confidence being low and not wanting him to start in a team low on confidence

i think that he should have got another year but it is also true that under the circumstances the club are in he may have done all he can.

but the way it was done was **** and it wasnt done for football reasons however last season eroded his power at the club and they took the chance to get rid. remember though that the owners would have had him go a long time ago and replaced with klinsman.

And that has helped the previous Managers how? A lot of them have failed. A lot of them only survive a couple of season's, so I really don't know how it helps you. RM have spent heavily still sack Managers quickly, their expectation is you win everything or you go, obviously RM budget isn't realistic.

No, I do not think we should keep sacking managers, Rafa had 6 years, most RM managers have 1 or 2 and winning the league isn' enough.

You haven't mentioned that Houllier was sacked for coming 4th and that everyone seemed to believe it was warranted. therefore getting sacked for finishing 7th must definitely be warranted

It's a fair point, but obviously the league has changed a bit since then, with Chelsea and now Man City.

Ged was sacked becuase people felt he couldn't take us further. Most people don't think that of Rafa, but I do. My sentements for both managers is pretty similar. Gave their all, had some great highs, but it was time, and things were on a downward slope.
