I don't know, I read it on the internet and thought it had a bit of jee nee says kwoi about it.
I thought it was a bit funny and perhaps provocative, in a good way, to overlay that way of thinking on to the thrust of the thread. However it's also provocative in a bad way so I relegated it to the edit box to show I wasn't being entirely serious..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

True though, it's exactly what many are doing, quoting words like "integrity, standing, reputataion", they do have faith in the bloke, just as we had faith in our new owners when they talked the talk, and said what we wanted to hear, it's so much easier to have faith and believe when it's what you want to hear anyway.Originally posted by Operation View Post'putting their faith in a bloke....'
bit emotive isn't it?

Not really. Wouldn't trust him as far as i could throw him, he's wouldn't have got to where he was in the business world by being altruistic. Not to mention he's a chav.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostTrue though, it's exactly what many are doing, quoting words like "integrity, standing, reputataion", they do have faith in the bloke, just as we had faith in our new owners when they talked the talk, and said what we wanted to hear, it's so much easier to have faith and believe when it's what you want to hear anyway.
I think the only thing we have faith in is that he'll look after his own self interest and we don't think that would be served by making that statement unless it's true.

Thankfully, that atleast is a good thing, but don't underestimate people like Broughtons ability to wriggle out of things and still come up smelling of roses...career and reputation intact.Last edited by Vermilion; 04-07-10, 11:31 AM.

These kind of posts are the reason I like this site.Originally posted by Paul12 View PostI think you are being unfair. The way these things tend to work is that the parties that express an interest that is seen to be legitimate, serious and credible are given access to the books and records so that they can study the possible acquisition more closely. They are not compelled to proceed of course, nor are they compelled to offer a price that is acceptable, but they tend not to change their position significantly unless they (a) uncover something unexpected or (b) suffer a change in circumstances. Broughton and BarCap will have made sure that there is nothing unexpected to uncover.
Broughton ghas made it clear that several paprties have in effect shown a serious interest. He also knows what the timetable would normally be for completion. That is why he has said what he has.
Knowing how therse things work and how a man like him cannot afford to misrepresent the position, I actually drew huge comfort from what he said, because it was far more explicit than I had expected.
The fact that he is a chelsea fan is an irrelevance. He is a professional and will not want to damage his reputation.

If he thinks a deal can go through before the transfer deadline then there has to be some offers already on the table. Due diligence would need to be completed and FA would have to investigate the buyers and ok them. Then there is the matter of the negotiations and he reckons this could be all done in a few weeks? My money is on there already being an offer/offers and its just about ironing out the details.Originally posted by cream View PostSo what part makes him an idiot?

Or parties registering an interest could be able to do DD prior to formalising an offer.Originally posted by Havors View PostIf he thinks a deal can go through before the transfer deadline then there has to be some offers already on the table. Didn't he explain that they have arranged for DD to be done to enable bids to be made? Obviously when they into exclusive discussions the potential buyer will want to see the books but I though one of the big 4 had been paid to do the background work to facilitate a quicker sale.Originally posted by Operation View PostOr parties registering an interest could be able to do DD prior to formalising an offer.

Originally posted by Taxi View PostWell, there's not even an offer on the table yet and when there is, they'll start pimping other parties for counter offers and then they'll need to go through the whole due diligence saga. 8 weeks without an offer on the table seems stupidly ambitious to me.
There are rumours that BarCap have completed / are just about to complete Vendor Due Dilligence which could shorten the completion time on any prospective dealBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

It could shorten the completion time in principal although the financial state LFC are in this could actually lengthen the buyers due dillegence.
Hopefully not and this is all good news though !
