I think we should look to offer a years extension and then loan him out. That is what I would look to do with most of our kids tbh. They can only learn so much playing reserve football.

Have to say that when I saw him last year I wasn't overly impressed, nor was I when he played Arsenal in the youth cup final a couple of years back. So I wouldn't lose sleep if he was on the way out

He'll still be under 23 though so we are quite likely to get compensation. Not that we could 'charge the earth' mind.

Its another part of the removal of the spanishness of LFC.Rafa gone,most of the backroom team gone,now fringe spanish players.

Their were rumours that the spanish contingent and the rest didnt mix very well,who knows the truth.

add to that the Roy has said he needs to buy british because of premier league and uefa rules then maybe we are clearing ranks.

seems crazy to me,he's shown promise.Not sure how long we'd have to wait for him to be considered homegrown under the new rules

I think the UEFA rule is going to be but the domestic 'home association' trained squad limits come into force for the first time next season and I doubt the poor world cup performance of England has done it's survival beyond that any harm.

He is still only 19 so that rule wouldn't affect him anyway, but he will be home grown by the time he is 21.

It was the proposed "6+5 rule", the rule of 8 homegrown players in a squad of 25 still stands.

Daniel Ayala has admitted that he would relish a return to his native Spain amidst speculation that he will be deemed surplus to requirements at Liverpool.

The 19-year-old defender arrived at Anfield from Sevilla in 2007 but has been heavily tipped for a season-long loan spell with Real Valladolid in his homeland with the view to a permanent switch following Rafael Benitez's departure.

Roy Hodgson has vowed to give players 'on the periphery' under the previous managerial regime a chance to prove themselves worthy of a future at the club but Ayala concedes that he is facing the fear of the unknown following his compatriot's departure last month.

He said: "Right now I am waiting to see what my future is because I don't know what will happen now Benitez has left.

"I am happy at Liverpool but I would be very excited to play in Spain."

Ayala made his senior debut as a late substitute in last season's opening day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and started in a 4-0 rout over Stoke City at Anfield three days later. He signed a contract extension in November, committing his future to the club until summer 2012.
