I'm no fan of the current state of football and the way LFC is being run. I'm a fan of the ethos of the club was once valued at, the traditions and the things it has been built on. Hodgson seems a decent man, I've got nothing against him, I just don't think he's good enough - he's just a step down to what we had.

The sudden lovin' for Hodgson is a bit surprising to say the least. Here's a man who couldn't really win away from home last season and who's brand of football isn't particularly 'inspiring' and based on an even more rigid defensive template that was used with Rafa. Add to that the fact that he's done 'steady' jobs wherever he went but never won anything.

I'd get behind him if I see a definite improvement on the pitch and evidence that we're fighting for the league championship. I'm taking a leaf out of people who said that our current team was 'better' than what we offered last season - we'll see if they were right.

Last season Hodgson performed a LOT better than Benitez did with a lesser team and lesser set of players. I'm afraid some people here are going to have to accept that he is gone and not coming back.

I liked Rafa but he was underachieving with the resources he had. Our squad should never have finished where it did last season.

So he's basically won championships in stellar leagues such as the Swedish and Norwegian leagues - great.

Re: Chrono - The team underachieved only last year because finishing 7th was somewhat unacceptable but we did overachieve in each and every season under Rafa before that. We just couldn't break the dominance of Chelsea and Man. United because it was impossible to compete with them with the resources we had.

It's not rocket science to say that it's more difficult going the last bit of winning the league when we've got to compete against juggernauts such as United and Chelsea than steadying a struggling team with a middle place finish in the league.
