Blimey, I'd forgotten all about crab football.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

      Back to torres....

I don't think he'll be going, even before the injury i doubted it but as pointed out, other than benitez, right now noone would pay over £25m for torres.

I personally don't think torres is 'injury prone' - i just think his body is just completley burnt out........and both liverpool and spain have ****ed him - for like 3 or 4 seasons straight, he has played without a proper break, picked up knocks and twinges, been rushed back, got injured again, rushed himself back for important games, got crocked again - imo he should never have been at the world cup, he was never fit, and it was inevitable at some point he was going to break down. Just a ****ing piss take it happend in the dying moments of the last game.

According to the bbc, we are not loaning out ngog unless we sign two strikers......So i would guess at least one must be on the radar....

We won't be challenging for the title this year, it's all about stopping the rot. Spain have just won the world cup, there is no rush there. So for me, i am thinking we should just accept it, he needs a proper lay-off a proper rest. Let him have it.

There is already rumours of him being out for two months.....i hate that, because already fans and the press will be looking at the fixture list....if we were to bring in another striker or two depending on ngog going on loan then imo, Jovanovic, AN other or Ngog along with kuyt/pacheco/babel if he stays - should be used up front to allow torres the full recovery with no pressure to get back.

The way i see it is - we missed him for most of last season anyway, we aren't going to be challenging for the league, so those players should be good to enough to at least keep us competitive. The hopefully torres comes back in 3-6 months back to fully fit and raring to go.

Then - if he starts breaking down again, we know he's a crock and we have to make a decision - move him on for whatever we can, or keep for the 20 games a season he can play and prob score 15, and go out and splash on another striker.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Looks like our new head Medic is on the ball

Liverpool are hopeful the injury sustained by Fernando Torres in the World Cup final isn't as bad as first feared.

The Reds' striker pulled up with what appeared to be a serious injury just seconds before the final whistle in Sunday night's game, sparking fears he could be set for a lengthy lay-off.

But Dr Peter Brukner, the new Head of Medicine and Sports Science at Anfield, has moved to reassure fans Torres shouldn't be sidelined for too long.

He said: "We've been in touch with the Spanish medical team and they don't think it's too serious. It's an adductor muscle injury but they've not had a chance to assess it today.

"Fernando will have a proper assessment and probably a scan tomorrow and some of the Liverpool medical staff will go to Madrid later in the week to fully assess the injury and organise his rehab. At this stage we don't think it's too serious.

"We can't say too much more at the moment until it is properly assessed."

Hopefully he can get to the bottom of these reoccuring injuries our players have been suffering.

Looks like Ngog has no intention of going anywhere:

I think a lot of the stories going round look like journalists putting two and two together. It will be interesting to see if Roy waits to see a few friendlies before making decisions over where we need strengthening and who we can afford to let go.

            "Ngog's agent, Bruno Satin"

What a great name. Must have been a porn star before becoming a footballer's agent.

Liverpool & Spain striker Fernando Torres sidelined for 20 days - report

Liverpool and Spain striker Fernando Torres will be sidelined for approximately three weeks according to reports in Spain.

The 26-year-old was injured in a sprint for possession in the latter stages of La Furia Roja's World Cup final win over the Netherlands sparking fears he would be ruled out of the start of the season.

Torres reportedly underwent an MRI scan earlier on Tuesday at a medical centre in Madrid, revealing that he had suffered a hamstring injury which would keep him out of action for up to 20 days.

According to AS, the results of the examination conducted by medical staff of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will now be sent to the Merseyside football club.

The report would confirm earlier expectations that the injury was not as bad as first feared and would, barring setbacks, mean he would be available for the Reds' Premier League opener against Arsenal at Anfield next month.

3 weeks isnt actually too bad, if that report is spot on.

Technically he could play against Arsenal, but i'm not sure he'd be right for that - still seems a bit soon.

If we could keep him working on his fitness til the end of August, he'd miss the first 3 games, but our first game in September isnt til the 12th, so that'd be another 2 weeks to get properly match fit.

Having said all that, i'd expect him to feature at Man City in the 2nd game, if not the opener against Arsenal.

He was due to have 3 weeks holiday after the Final anyway wasn't he.

I'm pretty sure that was the case.

Yeah, so if he returned to training in fit condition, that would be ideal.

I think it is clear there has been interest, and the hacks have just added on the fact that we are looking to loan him, or that he is looking to get away.

**** sake - he's ruptured a muscle in his left thigh apparently - reported on SSN.

Not looking good yet again for him getting any pre-season training in!

                            By Football Talk.

Scans have confirmed that Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has ruptured a muscle in his left thigh, according to reports in the Spanish media. The injury means he is unlikely to be fit for the start of the new premier league season. The good news for Liverpool is that it is only a grade 1 rupture, which is the least severe.

The injury occurred as Torres chased down a ball in the final stages of Spain’s World Cup Final victory over Holland on Sunday. The striker pulled up immediately and had to be stretchered off the field just minutes before the celebrations began.
