It was explained, by Purslow I think, that the cost of salary increases from new and improved contracts for existing players also counted within the transfer budget.

There is no simple way of calculating a "net spend" on tranfers.
Fees are paid and received in instalments.
As we remove one player from the wage bill, have we replaced them with someone on a higher wage etc.

You can't work it out from just adding and subtracting the transfer fees received and spent.

i think that looking at purely fees spent and recieved wa a good way of looking at it a few years ago. However since bosman many free transfers have big signing on fees knowing that the club paid nothing for the player.

I still think its a good indicator but thats all it does is indicate.

i am in two minds whether salary increases should be used in the same discussion. I know that they can eat money and he flexible nature of transfer/ signing on fee/ wages. however i also think that there would or should be a seperate pay increase budget.

The money all goes out of the same funds though and the affordability or otherwise of any squad changes is as determined by the overall wage outgoings as the fees (transfer or signing on) and I imagine in the case of Bosman's there is a specific balance of the two.

I have a feeling that over the summer we will end up with a reduced wage budget and having not spent more than we have bought in. I admit that for this to be true we will probably have to sell Mascherano but I think that is more or less inevitable.

How have you arrived at Benayoun's fee, which was undisclosed?
                  Oh I don't know.

have we ever excepted it ,and if not then why now ?

were's all the talk now of the turkish wonderkid which purslows sidekick bascombe was peddling in the NOTW ?

are people slowly coming around to the magnitude of the problems, not just with the owners but a banker playing championship manager ?
think you mean accept it or maybe expect it.

to his credit he is passionate about the club, and obviously wants to get involved and make a positive impact on the club and the area.

However the negatives are that he wont listen to anyone, he belittles everyone who doesnt agree, he is misguided in the impact of his actions.

To quote the man himself, it may be a bit blunt but it needed saying.
I agree. But I think he's well intentioned and not intentionally trying to belittle people, I think it's partly his passion and partly some of the crap fed to followers by SOS leadership.

you cant fault merlboos passion though its begining to do him no favours. Its a shame as he has lfcs future at heart, i just wish he would listen though i am close to giving up on him.

its a shame that all those that are as passionate are being led badly if there was a group who where more proffesional in their approach and actually harnessed that passion positivley it would be a great group. sadly sos isnt that group

though i maybe seen to be speaking on behalf of SOS ,some of my own ideas and opinions maybe just my own, though i have to be mindful on what i post on certain issues

i am to all intents probably no different to most of you

i long for talking about football matters and the vagaries of pre season optimisms

unfortunately i can't be afforded such liberties at this present time

all i'm trying to do in the main (as you may have gathered ) is create awareness

question the board ... and if that means Purslow , Broughton ,

                            Ayre (ticket hikes )

                            then so be it

if we aren't vigilant then who will be ?

thats all i'm asking , you don't have to agree with everything or anything i put up , but certainly be aware of why its out there

                            thats all i'd ask
