United and Chelsea do it too.Originally posted by red g View Postand maybe not have 10 players in the penalty box for oppo corners. that infuriates me
But yeah...it's not the way I'd do it. In FM games
and also simulations like Pro Evo or whatever, I leave five men up front.
If I ever run an amateur football team (as I intend to when I'm older) I'm gonna do the same.
It forces them to leave more men back. Crowded penalty areas surely lead to goals being conceded, so IMO it's easier to defend and of course easier to spring a counter attack if you have four or five men on or around the halfway line.
Is there any good reason why no coaches ever seem to employ my radical system?

How annoying is that. The way he's worded it...as though it's always been that way FFS. He should be saying "we've caught them up and now have the same amount of titles as them"Originally posted by red g View PostThey have won the same amount of leagues as us and you can't just dismiss that really.

I did read one of the reasons is becuase it enables you to break quicker as the oposition are further forward?
but personally just does my head in and i like your method

But doesn't that then ultimately depend on your ability to break quickly? Which Man Utd and Arsenal do, we don't seem to have the ability to do it (or at least not to do it effectively).Originally posted by red g View Postdo they really?

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If I was your opposition manager, I would just play the corners short and out number you that way. It would be a big risk on your part to leave just 5 back.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostUnited and Chelsea do it too.

Regarding keeping everyone in the box, it does give you a great option to counter well with players bursting forward, as opposed to booting the ball up and leaving a player isolated.
I think the only issue any of us had was that we would have ten in the box and still have the opposition ghosting in and scoring un opposed.Forwards.......

I already have a man waiting to deal with the short corner if it arises.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostIf I was your opposition manager, I would just play the corners short and out number you that way. It would be a big risk on your part to leave just 5 back.

Took them 20 years of us being generally crap and them dominating to catch up too!Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHow annoying is that. The way he's worded it...as though it's always been that way FFS. He should be saying "we've caught them up and now have the same amount of titles as them"

About Shaggy's revolutionary method of defending corners? Not sure it's relevant mate, he'll be on the halfway lineOriginally posted by IN_RAFA_WE_TRUST View PostI'll wait till i know Torres commits his future to Liverpool before i get too excited.
