We missed out on a number of young players because the recent managers we had didn't take the approach of Kenny and Fergie which was to phone them personally and aks them to sign.

Imagine your a young kid with no alligances to either team. A Liverpool scout asks you to sign, you travel down and on the way there, the manager of Manchester United personally calls you on the phone. He tells you how much he has heard of you and then lets you know how much he wants to sign you.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that the players mind would be swayed. hat is the difference between Man Utd and many other premiership clubs - the personal touch.

Another example is the love letter Fergie sent to Defour. He's not daft. He's a cunt, but he's not daft.
