He had a poor first 20 minutes and got better.

Shelvey does look a player - you can just tell - but his passing we pretty slack at times.

Felt sorry for LDV - he got no service whatsoever.

        Eccleston won't make it.

Don't mind very young centre backs ****ing up - every single young defender who ever existed made howlers in their teens. Ayala ****ed up no doubt, but Cav should never have given him the ball. I won't be writing Ayala off just yet - he's a good reader of the game and does the routine stuff very well, a lot of which tends to go unnoticed.

        Spearing is totally ****.

Great to see Sterling getting a run out. Suso's token 60 seconds was a bit of a piss take, he got the ball once, tried to shift it inside the lad, lost it and that was his game over.

I am worried about the lack of friendlies our first teams players have been able to get though.

You missed Sentanta's horrific commentary slagging him off all game.

Thank ****. I was out and recorded it on LFC TV and watched it just now. Those Setanta commentators are diabolical - their commentary on the Rabotnicki game was singularly the worst I've ever heard.

Yeah, sadly this was no better.

Kat said the German commentary was very complementary to however.

For all the talk about getting a a left back and back up stiker I'm more worried about our centre midfield and the centre of our defence.I still wouldn't trust Gerrard or Aquilani in a 4-4-2 and I'll despair if Carra starts the season as 1st choice CB.

I think you are being harsh on Carra and we still have Agger and Skrtel, and we are not playing 4-4-2
                      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I can't see us starting as a 4-4-2, we don't really have the players to suit that formation at the moment, I would also assume even if we did Lucas would be lining up in the middle of the park.

You are joking about Carra aren't you! Carra with Agger will be the starting pair and a very good pairing it is! Expect the Greek and Skittles to play from time to time and Wilson will get games in cups, Europe!

In fairness mate, people were just responding to others making out it's great news if Insua stays when really it's not great news at all.

Boring game, but I guess we are now seeing where roy will be looking to play people.

Gerrard looks nailed on for CM, whilst Aquilani and Cole battle for the behind the striker role.

Gerrard will no doubt be joined in CM by one of Lucas or the new signing.

Jovanovic will be plauing on the left, I guess Babel will join him on that side and it leaves Maxi and Dirk for the RM.
                            Forwards.......

will be interesting to see how gerrard settles into playing CM again, hope he is up for it and happy in that role.

Yeah well some of us disagree.

I think we'd be much better off keeping Insua as back-up and saving the money previously earmarked for dross English full-backs in their 30s and put it towards other signings. The season starts in less than two weeks and disruption should be kept to a minimum IMO.
