Is Roy hodgson the right man to spend that sort of money ? its just a question as to whether people think he could invest that sort of money wisely.
have no reason to doubt he couldnt?

lets face it with 135m he couldnt spend it on ****, thats an awful lot of Koncheskys!!!

roy has a history of buying english players and we all know that bar rooney and gerrard (maybe cole now that he's signed for us) the rest of them are well not that great. Would spunking £60m on milner and young really help us win the league ? I know they're good in this league but neither has made any sort of impression at the highest level - especially ashley young even though he's had a few chances.

My fear is that huang apparently wanted benitez to stay on and he might not be happy with the appointment of hogdson in which case we might have the 'mark hughes dead man walking at man city' scenario again.

Should steal Mueller from Bayern too while we are at it.

Putting my neck on the block but I think Mueller's overrated.

Seriously I'd have Alonso back, Lahm and then go for a striker. Eto'o or Tevez maybe. Perhaps Villa too

Liverpool suitor wants Rafael Benitez to stay

                      By Soccernet staff

                      April 25, 2010

Chinese businessman Kenneth Huang is ready to launch a £500 million bid to buy Liverpool and wants manager Rafael Benitez to remain at Anfield.

Huang, a former Wall Street broker, claims he has already been granted access to the Premier League club's accounts and expects to table an offer within two months.

Liverpool's current owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, put the club up for sale last week following three years at the helm.

Huang, who is working alongside business partner Adrian Cheng on the deal, insists Benitez is key to his plan and will fight off any interest from Serie A side Juventus.

"Negotiations have taken place over the last few months and we are at a crucial stage," Huang told the Sunday Mirror. "I really hope it turns out to be a successful bid. Right now my audit team is examining the books and my legal team is in close contact with theirs.

"We have a fierce competitor in the Middle East, but it could be finalised in June."

He added: "I was first approached (to buy Liverpool) in 2008 when I was in Singapore attending a Formula One Grand Prix, but the asking price was 1billion US dollars.

"It was totally unreasonable so I turned it down. The asking price has dropped significantly and we are talking again.

"I want Liverpool to win the Champions League and Premier League and I think Benitez is a very good coach."

Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon revealed last week that he had spoken to a potential Chinese investor and that any deal hinged on him staying at Anfield.

Benitez has persistently been linked with a move to Juventus in the Italian press and is reported to have been offered a £5 million salary and an £80 million transfer budget.

Rafa only has a 2 year deal with Inter. It would not cost much to buy that out
