Its based on an ageing team and lack of new players.

Name me 3 players that you would have in any team in the top 4.

I can think of Rooney and Possibly Vidic

They have lots of quality and experience. It's not about having the best players, if you have the second best XI made from a top 6 side, that would still be the best quality side in the Premier League.

They have the best manager in the league and the most experience. They also have a decent size squad to compensate.

I think 6th is harsh on us, but I can see why it has been made.

A lot will depend on Hodgson, as a new manager has different ideas and it is impossible to say how well they will work as it would be purely guess work.

Our main problem is that many of our key first team players ahve a past history of being injury prone. Torres, Agger, Cole and Aurelio are four first teamers who could very easily only end up being available for half the number of premiership games. Add Aquilani, and then Martin Kelly and even Johnson and Skrtel last year. We look like the complete opposite of reliability.

If our new sports science team are a success though, we would of course I think be possible title challengers. But squads that rely on certain players staying fit, tend to be the ones that get most hit by injuries.

FWIW I think this is finally the year it goes tits up for the Mancs. Dunno where they'll finish but I think it'll be their worst season in a while.

The mancs midfield looks incredibly average right now but their new striker Hernandez could be a revelation for them. There's something about him, I think he's gonna be amazing for them

Meh. I've watched him in Mexico and while he has a family pedigree to rival Diego Forlan, he is still young and will not be up for it against the physical CBs of the league. He will be good eventually; much better than Dos Santos and Vela-- much more a classic striker and more direct, but I'd start Berbatov over him 10 times out of 10. That said, when they need a jammy 91st minute goal, he's capable of bringing it ala ****ing Macheda two years ago.

Not having seen a sniff of Wayne Rooney in pre-season, I have no idea how they'd partner, as they are very similar in their direct style of play... Rooney being about 1000 times more physical.

have to agreee with V, even a couple of pre-season games* the kid looks like he has something special about him

It's not about having the best players

It certainly helps.

They have a mediocre team this year. Not much depth, and there fringe players are just that....fringe players.

Most of the other teams have players that are as good or if not better in most positions.

I hope you're right, but every year I look at their squad and think it's not great but they're always there or there abouts some how
