I remember Arbeloa took Messi out of the game last couple of times we played them. Messi is one of those players I hear great things about, but have never actually seen him have a good game.

How did Arbeloa do up against Cole?
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Have you only ever watched him once, or something?

Messi is superb on a virtually weekly basis in La Liga.

Mark Bright said he hadn't been impressed by Messi, so that's good enough for me

              All jokes aside here.

Does anyone believe this club will ever unearth a talent as good as Messi, a local talent or one of the younger lads like Pacheco etc?

I mean we've had some decent players come through over the years; Gerrard, Fowler, dare I say it Owen all of whom are good in their own way but none of which are of the class of Messi.

Surely it's only a matter of time before we uncover a real gem. A player who has incredible skill and talent, loved by the fans and wanted by every club in the world or are the local players just ****e these days?

                Messi's a once-in-a-generation player. And i mean once in a generation, worldwide.

I dont know how it could be 'only a matter of time' before we uncover someone like Messi.

Surely in another generation we'll uncover someone as good as him. We'll probably all be dead by the time it happens though!

I think there's much more chance of the next Messi being from South America (again) or Africa, simply due to the sheer number of kids to choose from.

It's my dream to have someone like him come through the ranks.

Imagine watching someone like that playing for your club week in week out. I'd feel so proud but I'd also be creaming my pants at the same time.

                        Why will we 'surely' ?

There's been about 5 players in the history of football who are at that standard. I dont consider it 'surely' that the one of the next couple will be uncovered by LFC.

I think you'll find Gerardo Bruna is the new Messi.

Until we teach kids to actually play football from a young age and they start learning technique and comfort with the ball over tactics and looking at who is the sprintiest, no, we are not likely to find a local talent like Messi.
