Inswinging cross from left, Chamakh? ran just in front of Pepe and he fumbled it, the ball then hit the post as he was running towards the goal straight back at him and his momentum carried him over the line, all this in a second or two, I feel it was the way the ball came straight back towards him from the post what done the 'damage'

I think the effort and desire will see us have a very good season if they play like that all year.

Still think we have very glaring weaknesses and they'll show up. I'll go as far as saying that if it wasn't for Cole's red card, we would have lost this game. The red card took the pressure off of us and piled it on Arsenal, it was siege mentality that pulled us through.

We're going to struggle unless we strengthen our left side. You can't break down a team with two Kuyts on the wing.

N'Gog impressed me though. He's a funny player, reminds of Trezeguet, whenever I saw him, I thought "meh, he's a bit ****", but then he goes on and scores goals on a regular basis whenever he's on the pitch. If he had pace, he would have been some player.

Great result. Down to ten men at half time against an Arsenal side who bossed us in the first half and had the ball all second half was a great result. Not to mention we had a concussed Agger on the field who was pretty much hanging on.

I really admire your ability to look on the bright side! I'm totally devastated after having spent the last minutes just daring to hope that we'd start with a super result.
Now we have to comfort ourselves with a super performance but it'll take me a couple of days to be able to appreciate that

Clearly it was, although when a top player makes an error you give them the benefit of the doubt and move on, it's not like it's doing it every week. Anyhow, he pulled off that close range stunner which was sneaking under the crossbar from Rosicky a few minutes before, not many keepers would have saved it.

Poor result. sorry, but we played for 3 points and were looking so organized down to 10 and even 9 (!!). I don't blame Pepe but why do the flukes ALWAYS GO AGAINST US? It felt like we had hung on for a massive 3 points playing down to 10 and then THAT of all ****ing things. Always something with us... A point is fine, but 3 is better and 3 were deserved. **** me.

Considering the time Roy has had working with the team, I thought we played well and I think we have a lot to look forward to. Two tough games at the start of the season can't be easy when you are a new manager with limited amount of time to prepare the team. Will be interesting to see how many of these players will start against Trabzon. That's this week isn't it?

To Be fair fella I reckon they should all start depending on injuries we need to get our match sharpness Torres esp and playing matches is better than any training session

If you look back at the 'arsenal first game' thread there was lots of negativity an pessimism. I think we saw enough from the second half, matching them with 10 men, to be a lot more positive.
