More important than Trabzon away imo.

I don't necessarily think it was... No Gerrard pen granted.... But if the keeper wasn't off his line... it was going in.

I found that pretty painful viewing to be honest. Plenty of mitigating circumstances which I don't need to go into, but l found it difficult viewing nevertheless.

I don't know the stats but certainly in the first half they seemed to monopolise the ball. It was the same against Arsenal, but against them you can accept it. We're not used to having less of the ball.

The less said about the 1st half, the better. Lucas, Poulsen, Maxi, Aurelio, Cole and Babel were all woeful. On the subject of Babel and in his defence, every single ball played up to him was a 50-50 'scrap for it' ball. Granted he lost every single one of them, but he got one chance and one goal, with some good movement and a great finish. So with that in mind, the renewed confidence he'd have felt having got the goal, I was disappointed to see him come off. Yes I was happy to see Nando get 45 minutes, but someone else should've come off IMO. Jovanovic maybe. Babel would've been buzzing after his goal and he gets the hook.

Joe Cole has got some ****ing improving to do. Nice ball for the goal but **** all else. I said when we signed him, he's actually barely played in this 'in the hole' role in his ****ing life! Everyone's clamoured for it but he never got his wish. He looks a little lost to me. He can only improve though and I like his attitude.

Poulsen did okay all things considered and was so unlucky to have that debut goal taken away from him. Having said that, and I know it's early days, Poulsen and Lucas looks an uninspiring pairing in the middle.

            Aquilani - no future?

Did you not think Poulsen had a strong(stronger) 2nd half though mate?

As for Aquilani, i honestly don't see a way back for him to be honest.

Yeah, like I said I thought he had a **** 1st half (after a good first 10 minutes) but "did okay all things considered"....improved in the 2nd half (bar a short spell when he went completely missing) and it was a steady debut all told.

The same goes for Lucas/Mascherano and it just shows that we should stop playing with two defensive midfielders - it just takes even more creativity out of a team which isn't exactly world beaters in that department anyway

I just hope someone has a cunning plan

Yeah agreed, but Poulsen's not as good as Mascherano so it's even less inspiring.

And that's probably why also Rafa was after him...
