Injured in training with Holland FFS!!!

Could be out for a while

Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt set for several weeks on the sidelines after picking up shoulder injury in Netherlands training

Netherlands head coach Bert van Marwijk has dealt Liverpool a blow after he declared Dirk Kuyt would be sidelined for several weeks with a shoulder injury.

Kuyt, 30, started Friday's 5-0 Euro 2012 qualifying thumping of San Marino but has been ruled out of Tuesday's clash against Finland. De Telegraaf has reported that he was sent to hospital for scans to determine the extent of the damage after he sprained a joint landing awkwardly stretching to reach a cross.

Van Marwijk has now confirmed the attacker has flown back to Liverpool for further treatment.

He was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur: "He will probably have a few weeks off and at 4pm today he will step on to the plane to Liverpool."

In a costly session for the Dutch, Kuyt could be joined on the sidelines by VFB Stuttgart and former Chelsea defender Khalid Boulahrouz after he fell victim to a groin strain.

And he deserves the chance too. Looks like Jova and Maxi to start out wide vs Brum..

Hopefully it won't be too long, think we'll miss him in the tough away games coming up..

Is Maxi - that name reminds me too much of the terrible Austin car and even worse 1970s fashion item - not in the Argentina squad for the Spain game?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I just looked and it seemed like he isn't playing which is a bonus because he won't be jet lagged.

A few weeks out. Is this his longest absence since signing? One tough ******* is our Dirk.

Re. Kuyt's injury, obviously I take full responsibility for tempting Fate.

He's been injured a couple of times and came back far sooner than expected.

Massive loss for the United game if he doesn't make it.

I'm not so sure to be honest. On a big pitch like that, his slowness is shown up even more. I may be wrong, but off the top of my head I can't remember him having a decent game at OT. Maxi is better at keeping the ball and we'll need to do plenty of that.

I think the Brum game is where we'll miss his battling the most.

Anyway it matters little since Torres will hit 6 in those two games and show the world he's back to his best.
