Kuyt is one of our most effective players.
My argument is made in context of being labeled "A man for the big occasions and scorer of crucial goals".

Out of all goals and assists last year only 4 had impact on final result (Everton, Spurs, Hummers and Debrecen).

In terms of being effective he must be considered in context of number of games he played and he played a lot.

He scored 10 goals and had 3 assists in 46 (starter in 44 of those) games he played last year, which makes his goal/assist ratio average to say at least.

Spot on - Dirk is certainly someone who rises to the big occasion and doesn't go missing when we need him.

Be utter maddness to let him go now - no doubt this is typical journalist license with cutting and pasting things to sound juicy - he's going nowhere!

Yet it was one of the best at the club last season and there are other factors involved (with assists especially, because Kuyt was only one of 2 outfield players scoring from open play last season). Look 2 seasons ago and you see a very good record for a wide player again, only outdone by Ronaldo in that position.

In a normal summers business I'd be deeply unimpressed if we didn't sell Kuyt for £15m.

But with a new manager in and a big turn over of players already with a few more to come, I am not sure it would be wise to let him go. That said, this is our last chance to make some good money on him.

I'd sell. Bring in a younger player with a bit of pace and skill about them for the RM slot.
          Forwards.......

Should we really be looking to make money on him? Rather we had him in the team.

Who could we realistically bring in to replace him?

Thinking about it I now believe that Kuyt will be sold and the money raised will be spent on Salcido and Toivonen. Their combined fees add up to the transfer fee we'd get for Kuyt. Not saying I'd be overjoyed with it, but the jigsaw pieces fit.

I don't want to sound as being a bit of a dick, but I'm not a scout and haven't watched players, nor do I know who is or who isn't available. As such, I can't give a good answer.

I only make my comments as I know what Kuyt can bring and I know his age and sell on value. And for £15m I am sure there is someone out there that fits the bill.

Turan is rumoured to cost that amount and everyone seems so enamoured with him, there is one name I could throw in, But i have no idea tbh.

                    Maxi? Babel?

I'm just putting two and two together to be honest, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens over the next week.

Neither of them gives us what Kuyt gives. I'd be gutted if we sold him.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s position on Dirk Kuyt and Javier Mascherano has not changed despite speculation emerging again over the weekend about their respective futures.

Kuyt continues to be linked with Inter Milan and Barcelona are monitoring Mascherano’s position but Liverpool insist neither man is for sale.

Strange, we openly admitted we were willing to let Mascherano leave for the right fee as per his wishes.

Delighted to see that stance on Kuyt though

Maybe we mean not for sale at the prices quoted and/or offered.

If we can get £15m for Dirk that would be an outstanding piece of business on our part.

I would sell too and go after more natural gifted winger such as Arda or Alexis Sanchez.

Both would give us more width, pace, creativity and trickery which is what we are in very short supply.
