Liverpool squad v Trabzonspor: Reina, Gulacsi, Hansen, Johnson, Kelly, Skrtel, Carragher, Krygiakos, Aurelio, Cole, Spearing, Poulsen, Lucas, Pacheco, Shelvey, Babel, Kuyt, Ngog, Eccleston. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Mixed views on this one, I want us to progree because it means more experience and games for Pacheco, Kelly, Shelvey and some of the even younger lads.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWe're going out!
But I'd also like us to play on a saturday and have free weeks to clear up injuries to finish as high in the league as possible! The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

The sunday games all the time are a proper ball-ache.
I'd hate the initial embarrassment of losing the tie, but once the dust had settled, i would be happy not to be in this competition.

as roy said previous to first leg, the priority is the league and these games should be treated as a chance to blood youngsters and give squad players some game time:
reina
kelly / skittles / zorba / aurelio
poulsen / spearing
cole / lucas / babel
pachecoPeople who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Would we have expected (or even wanted) Torres and Gerrard to play in this? We're meant to be concentrating on the league and using this for youngsters.
So the Echo's headline of "Liverpool FC rocked as Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and other stars left out of Turkey trip" seems a bit OTT.

Think I'd have to agree with you on that one.
Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

not so sure bout that.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostA midfield of Poulsen, Lucas and Spearing is a seriously grim prospect!
poulsen seemed pretty decent first game. got a bit of a pass on him and breaks up play well too. bit of match fitness he'll be good for us.
spearing will hussle and rush there midfield which is what we want . . . . . . dont want to give them time on ball. he'll run non-stop for 90 mins a la kyut on the right.
lucas seems to play better in a more attacking role and ( like pre-season ) the added repsonsibility of being one of the senior players suited him.
not a greta midfield granted but far far far from grim.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

When we've gone from Mascherano/Alonso in what seems like two minutes to potentially Spearing, Lucas and Poulsen, it is seriously grim in my opinion. From two players who'll be anchoring Barca's and Real Madrid's midfields, to those three...one of whom sat on Leicester's bench last season, and...well, the other two.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I don't want to see us go out at this stage, it would be good to get to the group stage and at least give some of the youngsters some games at a competitive level, that stage gives them at least 4 games to do that. Doing this (instead of going out) would if the teams are selected appropriately allow the first team players to concentrate on the League campaign. As to be honest I'm not too fussed about this competition, but I do feel the above scenario would be ideal. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
