I just had a call from Margaret Aspinall, the chair of HFSG, and discussed the plans at a high level, and next time I'm up north I'm going to meet up with her and some others at the HFSG offices to discuss the event in more detail.

    Will keep you all informed.
Ah good stuff. My company should probably be good for chucking in some bunce, and I've also got a couple of high-level mates at Sport England so I'll see if I can speak to them too

I'm up for this. From experience Just Giving take 7% off what could go to the charities - Virgin Money Giving is much more efficient so if possible we should use them. The issue could be around the "registered charity". To get Gift Aid etc they would need to qualify - does anyone know why they aren't?

Just a suggestion but why not do Craven Cottage to Anfield? More publicity and I am sure Roy & Fulham could be tapped up for a donation or two?

A few more miles to ride though....

Cerbie, interesting idea, Ill think about it.
Are you local to me too?

I have given all the HFSG details to Virgin Money Giving to contact them and see if they can work something out.

Afraid not, up in the frozen north in Aberdeen. Have taken part in 2 coast to coast events recently so distance over 2 or 3 days isn't a problem.

Logistics wise, I'd get the train down and crash at my folks after the ride.

You're more ready than me then....
Im just doing 40 miles at around 15.5 mph average every 3 or 4 days at the moment...will start building it up slowly and going out more often over the next few months.

When you say paying respects.....do you mean actually going via Sheffield?
Or just at the memorial service at Anfield?

I meant stop at Hillsborough on 14th then ride over for the service on the 15th.

To be honest as long as we get to the service on time I'm happy. Planning the route to keep away from main A roads & the traffic will be a challenge.

If you are doing 100+ miles a week now at that pace you are well ahead of the game training wise.

Sounds like it might be a good idea. Will start to look at routes soon.

I'm away with the family in Blackpool for the weekend, and just had some proper fish and chips. Got served by a lovely woman from Liverpool who turned out to be a red and ended up being my first sponsor!
