I do like the look of shelvey (and Kelly/Pacheco/Wilson) but i think something remarkable would have to happen for any of them to become a first team regular this season – it would take either –
An epic burst of form/progress from them ala a wayne rooney/michael owen type breakthrough where they look so good you just have to play them every week, - which would be fan****ingtastic if it happened
Or
Either serious injury or a serious loss of form to one of the players keeping them out currently – which, whilst great for them getting game time, could also be disastrous, for example – for shelve to break through regularly but not because of him being unstoppable – it would mean, that at least one or two of gerrard/poulsen/lucas/meireles are either injured or just really ****ing ****....plus, it may also mean that they get thrown in the deep end and suffer – ie, prime example being insua, who everyone felt a couple of seasons ago looked a great young prospect, shined in the few first team appearences – but then due to dossena being ****e and aurelio always injured he was thrown in as basically first choice left back and struggled – i felt it was a bit unfair really, and the same could happen to any of these four.
I’d say – best chance out of those four is Pacheco due to the lack of options up top
