One thing that actually summed up the game for me.

Maxi was in possession. Ahead of him was a simple pass to Meireles. Further ahead was torres, on his own, surrounded by Brum players.

Maxi, instead of feeding Meireles who was building up a bit of speed, decided to hoof it up to Torres who of course lost his millionth ariel challenge of the match.

Meireles turns to Maxi, with a cross look on his face and with both hands gestures towards his feet.

Exactly my thinking all game. Too many pointless, aimless, long balls up to Torres instead of working the shorter ground passes.

yes. i yelled exactly those thoughts at the tv. baffling how, for once, the short pass to feet was the good option, and nothing. there was another time gerrard could've teed up raul and instead rolled it further back to johnson. was hoping when he came on the others would look for him, but at times they seemed to be avoiding him.

Lucas has been good at OT in the last couple of years, i see no reason to drop him.

I don't think they were avoiding him, it was jsut the way the whole game was.

I think Poulsen is a better holding player and I think we need some sort of creativity in there to get the ball rolling forwards.

Either way, it wasn't good enough and i'm usually keen to see Maxi starting for us.

Just watching the highlights here(don't know why but anyway) and by **** - how lucky were we not to be 2 or 3 down before half-time.

Considering how **** and sloppy we were for large periods, a point wasn't a disaster.

The man's a legend, whilst many people feel sorry for Gerrard and Torres with our lack of success, no man deserves a trophy more than Pepe.
