It is also far from atypical of our performances this season. Clueless & turgid.

Indeed. But maybe you are missing the point. No one has said it was a good performance, or even an average one. Everyone agrees it's ****e.

Everyone has said we must improve if we are to attain our targets. Some of us have posted up reasons to be cheerfull, an insight that things may improve. But I guess we'll see.

They're a decent team and as their manager said afterwards, they maybe just lack a goal scorer. Put Darren Bent (for example) at Birmingham and they could really have a good season.

That might be a damning indictment of our quality though as they're arguably a better team than us at the moment. We've got a world class goalscorer but we're still struggling.
          Are we winning?

Just not feeling very positive today, soz.
            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Or perhaps, had the first chance gone in, we've had upped our game, started attacking rather than sitting back and won the game 3-1...it's all hypothetical, cos none of it happened.

We drew 0-0, good point in fairness, and we're gonna win next week!

              Maybe.

Our world class goal scorer aint world class atm though. He is average.

The only bad thing about the result is that a win would have put us two clear of Spurs and City.

That would have meant that even with a defeat at Old Trafford we would have at most been one point back with us heading into a spell of much easier fixtures. Opportunity lost really.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Going on the fact it's "just Birmingham" I'd be inclined to agree with you. But if you actually stopped to look at the facts, you probably wouldn't make that bet. They are unbeaten at home in the league for a year. So it's hardly them being lucky or the results being a flash in the pan.

When a team remains unbeaten for so long, it is down to more than just luck. Birmingham deserve great credit for their home form and I don't think you're guesses are based on anything other than thinking it's "just Birmingham".
My guess is not based on it being 'just birmingham', it's based on the fact that Chelsea, United and Arsenal go into all games proactively looking to win, whereas us and the other dross, go there seeking to not lose, somehow regarding any away point as being good enough.

Why does it always take that to happen though, before we 'up our game' ?

                          Always the way.

In my opinion we were lucky to come out with a draw. Birmingham should have been 3-0 up at half time. Most crosses into the box resulted in a goalscoring chance for them. We started getting a foothold in the game in the last 15 minutes and it was because of Meireles' addition, which allowed Gerrard to move back to central midfield.

I dont see a draw as a good result, at least last year Ngog missed 3 sitters, Maxi missed 1 and hit the bar etc, we actually looked like scoring (and did get 1). This was horrendous, dismal line up and substitutions left way to late. His use of subs is infuriating already.

I don't know if you were at the game Nige but watching on tele there were times when Meireles seemed to be playing in CM with Gerrard more advanced. It may have been short-lived though and I realise that conflicts with what the boring man on the tele said.

Perhaps someone at the game could enlighten me please.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
