Well two trains of thought on that - when Hodgson went to Inter, they were a shadow of the side they are now.

Secondly, that was almost a generation ago in footballing terms, and i interpreted his comments to be in the context of the here and now.

Like i said i have seen it when Rafa was here on 2 different forums and there was murder about it, i can't believe people have never come across a post that said i don't care if we win today at some point during Rafa's tenure because i have seen dozens of them. There is a very fine line with some people, it is not childish and lame, this mentality is there with some people, i've seen and heard it at the end of Rafa's reign from alot of people and it still exists with Roy. A small minority and not real supporters but lets not deny its doesn't exist and my claim is valid.

They certainly were. I think though, that it's becoming increasingly difficult to survive and prosper just off the back of the name, unfortunately. It's evident that we cannot do it anymore.

It's actually heartbreaking to think that the only thing stopping us from competing for top honours, is the ****ing crippling annual interest payments.

Even if we were just paying back the debt over a long term repayment structure, we could probably still afford to do that and be competitive. It's just the ******* interest which is screwing us. £40m per season Imagine that spent well on players.
