He needs to be dropped against the Mancs. He's a complete liability at the minute. Manhandling players left, right and center, making all sorts of dangerous clumsy challenges, totally appaling in the air for a CB too. He looks like he's going to give a penalty away every 10 minutes. Please drop him Roy!

Skrtel is a disaster waiting to happen

I think he's taking time to acclimatise to man to man marking. To be fair to him, the whole defence (bar Carra possibly) is a shambles at the moment. It's a bit strange as normally defence is the first thing that a manager sorts (building from the back is the usual saying). Though, to dispute this fact, we just had two consecutive clean sheets in the league. Are we winning?

Possibly but he at least contributes something in the attacking third. Plus you have a top class replacement in Agger for Skrtel. Drop Johnson and we only have an untested (yet promising) kid.Originally posted by liverpooltj View PostGlen Johnson is a disaster waiting to happen more than Skrtel.
If Johnson's inept defending continues I agree maybe he should be dropped too though, but Skrtel needs to be dropped now!.

Been saying it about Skrtel for over a year now, he is a complete liability. Rash tackles, horrible positioning, slow and clumsy are not good attributes for a CB. Plus for a guy that is 6 ft 3 or 4 he is absolutely putrid in the air.
Said in summer that we should have sold him as i prefer Kyriagkos to him. Roy made a cock up picking him over Agger but maybe had Europe and Macs game in mind same with Merieles, still no excuse though

Unbelievable that he gets picked ahead of Agger and we've just given him a 2 contract year extension!!
Skrtel as first choice centre back is right up there with playing 4-4-2 away to Man City in the top 2 things anyone with half a brain about football wouldn't do in a million years. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Time to acclimatise? He's always been dodgy to say the least. His positioning is terrible, he cannot read the game and he seems to stay rooted to the ground when a cross comes in. He manhandles players all the time and against the best he will always concede a dangerous free kick or penalty.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostI think he's taking time to acclimatise to man to man marking. Nothing to do with adjusting to man marking.

He's much quicker than Agger too.Originally posted by red g View PostSkrtel's only positive attribute compared to Agger is he looks meaner.
not sure this is a good basis to pick centre halves from though
And better at reading the game.
If Agger wasn't Mr Cool on the ball, he wouldn't be jizzed over anywhere near as much as he is.

, but I pray he sees sense and changes it. We were so, so lucky to keep a clean sheet yesterday, we have Pepe to thank for that.
