To be honest I think we need to stick with a consistent unit for a while. I agree that Agger is the better player but he is injury prone and (admittedly out of position) not looked in sparkling form himself this season. I think the whole defence will improve as they play together (and ideally with a consistent defensive midfielder in front of them too).

Skrtel looks off form but I don't think it can be easy playing in our defence at the minute as it looks like a unit in transition (which I guess in terms of tactics is what it is). If Roy thinks that Skrtel will be his long term choice then he has to stick with him through this rough patch.

I guess it is also possible that Agger hasn't been picked there as we lacked a LB earlier and he could still have some side effects from the concussion (in terms of lost time training with the rest of the team if nothing else).

IMO Skrtel is not much quicker than Agger and no way doe she read the game better, no comparison in ability and composure.

Possibly but he at least contributes something in the attacking third. Plus you have a top class replacement in Agger for Skrtel. Drop Johnson and we only have an untested (yet promising) kid.

If Johnson's inept defending continues I agree maybe he should be dropped too though, but Skrtel needs to be dropped now!.

Agger can head the ball. He's not an aerially dominant player, but at least he can get to headers, something Skrtel seems to be incapable of. The lad is a novelty, a centre back who can't head the ball. What next, an attacker who can't shoot? Oh wait, we have a ****load of these too.

Only thing Skrtel is better than Agger at is eating babies, and sleeping with his eyes open.

agger is a defo starter at centre half. why skittles played ahead of him is baffling. skittles will come good again but right now its as the title says . . . . . .disater waiting to happen.

It's a travesty he's being picked over Agger.

I am still shocked that he was the first choice ahead of Agger unless Agger is still recovering from the head injury.

Let's hope that is the case (for our sake) cause if it isn't than I have some serious doubts about Roy's selection abilities.

It's another symptom of our safety first approach IMO.

Skrtel doesn't try and create from the back, he gets rid of it as fast as possible, whereas Agger will try and bring it out of defence - there's no need for that in our brave, new world you know.
