The team has often seemingly been just one piece away from being contenders, we have come close on a couple of occasions but ultimately feel short. I now no longer feel that we're just one piece away from competing for the title, at the moment I feel we are the furthest we've been away from a title challenge since the Souness era. The squad of a couple of years ago (when we came second) was just a little bit away, but since then we have lost important players and replaced them with people who aren't of the same quality and aren't capable of doing the same job.

In previous years I'd have said I'm happy with the quality of the first 11 but we need to improve the players who come in and replace them when we have injuries or suspensions, at present I'm not even happy with the first 11 We're in a mess, we need to adapt our style of play and add creativity IMO because the performances this season and last season have been lacking in that department. I feel we need to add creativity from wide areas, we don't use the whole width of the pitch, we are very narrow, lack movement and don't get men in the box, as a result we struggle going forward, and constantly rely on Gerrard and Torres to get us out of trouble!

We are miles away atm. If players settle well we may be closer than we think. Losing Alonso and Mascherano was a hammer blow.
    Forwards.......

Erradicate the debt, build the stadium we need - LFC is a great opportunity for someone to come in and in the mid to long term make some very good cash from it (this is what football has become now) but on the pretence it's run properly - as a marketable brand it's a world leader and the income we have and can generate should essentially mean we we'd be able to operate pretty much self sufficently.

This sadly is all based on responsible owners coming in and getting H&G out of the club
Long term we could look after ourselves financial wise. Short term we need the debts clearing, we need a stadium and we need player investment to keep the likes of Gerrard and Torres. That takes a lot of cash, maybe £300m on the club, £350m on the stadium and a £50m on players.

      Talking £700m.

Short term is the problem I agree with that - thing is anyone coming in is not going to be looking at this as a short term hit and run deal (if they do they're the wrong people)

In terms of players removing the debt on the club would rapidly open up revenue for players - obviously the stadium will be another big outlay but again will pay for itself in spades once completed and if done correctly.

Sadly all if's and buts at the moment

Then again the club may be sold for less than £300 mill, naming rights may make the stadium cheaper, and with no debts to pay we would already have some cash for transfers. Still talking about £500-550 mill, which is a lot of cash

plus any likely buyer is going to have to either finance the purchase and or expect a return

They will expect a return, gone are the days of fans owning clubs for the love of it.

If it's done correctly there is the potential for significant return over the mid to long term.
