Pacheco I would play, unless Roy wants to get a look at Babel as a LM. Babel is someone I think should be in the first team given our present options, so if he has a good game at LM then I'm happy with that.

Maxi looks out of sorts and needs a confidence booster and needs a game. He didn't play in the international break so it's not like he needs resting.

TBH I'm happy enough with the team line up. I'm just worried what it may mean for Sunday.

Poulsen and Lucas both rested - Does that mean Roy has it in mind to play them both? Skrtel and Carra rested, does that mean Skrtel continues against United? No doubt Gerrard, Johnson and Torres will be starters. Will Jova start on the left no matter how well Babel does?
Was going to make the exact same point. I would think that one of Lucas or Poulsen should play tonight, because that would suggest that only one of them plays on Sunday

Disappointed in no Pacheco also, although this team addresses those points:

Liverpool (4-2-3-1, probable) Jones; Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Kelly; Lucas, Meireles; Pacheco, Cole, Jovanovic; Ngog.
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Wonder if Spearing is being played to get him noticed by lesser clubs, boost is value a little bit? Or does Roy really believe he has a future with us??

Shelvey hasn't appeared in any match. This is plain strange, surely he must be better than Spearing.
          Are we winning?

            25:

Steaua Bucharest have won none of their last 25 games in European competition (excluding qualifiers).

            @OptaJoe.

Gloss over the results though and you get this type of reporting:

"Hodgson has lost only one of eight matches as Liverpool's manager so far - and will be the first incumbent to win his first five European games with victory over Steaua ..."

Look at the performances and it's a different kettle of fish.

In regards to Jay, he is a decent lad but he'll be 23 in November and he will never make it. If anybody is talented that is Pacheco and not Spearing and at this point in his career Pacheco should be getting all the playing time in Europa League, FA and Curling Cup, especially as he will only get few minutes, if lucky, in PL competition.

In regards to resting some, I hope you are wrong specifically in case of Lucas/Poulsen pairing. They were awful and I can tolerate one of them but not 2 at the same time.

I'd be very worried if Roy starts the same team vs Mancs as against Brum with an exception of Cole (instead of Jova). That team has no chance of success.
From what I've seen of him, and that isn't much, he certainly isn't a defensive (holding) midfielder

From what I've heard he can play there if needed. He's described as a player who is tough in the tackle, disciplined and a great passer of the ball.

I think the most important part of a DM's game is the ability to read the game, no idea how good he is at that.
                Forwards.......

I've read his Wiki page too!

I think Spearing will be taking the role of DM tonight, Meireles will be asked to orchestrate the game and the more and more I think about it, we will be lining up in a 4-4-1-1.

Reina expected to be captain for #LFC tonight. Deserved honour for a man who truly lives & breathes the club. Hopefully a sign of the future

                          Almost forgot we'd signed Cole
Sack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

Shockingly bad decision to leave Pacheco on the bench for this one.

                            Sack Roy!

I think we'd all like to see him start. Not sure I'd sack him for it though
