In a more tactically sophisticated set-up he's going to struggle in CM, hence Benitez, Capello and other far better managers than Houllier not playing him there. As you say he also had the expert insurance of Hamann.
In fairness Capello didn't play him there because he needed a system that allowed both Gerrard and Lampard on the pitch at the same time. If you notice, Lampard was missing for the last two games and Gerrard started in CM and was arguably the best player overall in the two games.

It all comes down to what you have IMO. I think Gerrard is the best player in our squad for both behind the striker and also in DM. So it really comes down to how the rest of the squad position themselves. In a way, we have the same problems as England.
    Forwards.......

In our current state it might be a good idea to move him back yes.

But it's imperative that Meireles steps up to the plate to allow SG to sit behind Torres.

The last few games have crystallised something for me regarding Roy's management and whether he should stay or go - if he's going to play Gerrard at CM he has to go and asap. It shows a basic misunderstanding of Gerrard that is apparently widespread and popular but is nevertheless 100% wrong. We will lose far more then we gain by putting Gerrard at CM. Especially by isolating Torres even more. And if Roy is happy to do that then it only compounds the reason why he would have to go.

"I agree" works for me personally, but I definitely dont think you should be using both "this" and "+1"

Although it could then imply that you agree, but more so. Hmmm. A quandry

Not sure Roy is planning on having Gerrard in the centre though, surely Raul wouldn't have come in if that were the case?
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
