Johnson vs. Kelly

Johnson all day long for me. Long term Kelly will be a CB and is just serving his apprenticeship covering (very well) for Glen when he is out.

Johnson is quite a bit better at the mo, thats nothing against Kelly though as he's boss, just Johnson is brilliant and rarely troubled defensively despite all the bizarre "he cant defend" ****.

Glen's been a great signing, he's had a couple of defensive lapses but nothing like what Sky would have you believe.

Best Right back in the league for me, which is a shame for Kelly but a great problem for us to have.

We are fortunate to have two so strong right backs. For me Johnson is still the strongest of the two, and a very good rb. Part of a very strong defense this season both of them.

Out of curiosity, which rb's in the PL do people see as stronger/better than Johnson (or Kelly if you think he is better) ?

Stand out RB aside from Johnson has to be Walker at Spurs. He does look a very good player.

Johnson. He's near enough the complete full back. Kelly is developing nicely, but he's not quite at his level yet.

Saying that, Johnson has shown that he can do a job at left back as well. So I wouldn't be adverse to seeing Enrique given a rest from time to time so we can play both of them.

If you had asked last year I'd have gone for Kelly but Johnson has played ok this season and has improved on some of his defensive weaknesses

Walker is the next big thing because he's young, english, quick and plays for 'Arry at Spurs but he is woeful defensively, most of the time he has the recovery pace to compensate but he was at fault for the Man U goals the other week and Johnson had him on toast when GJ played LB against him at Anfield.
Richards is another one who catches the eye because he maraudes forward and City play great football at times but he can't defend for toffee either.


Say what you like about Capello and Benitez but they know their stuff defensively and organising teams etc....

Both of those chose Johnson every time, it is just another example of Sky playing god when favouring a player or particular team over another one.

Johnson is the best full back in the league imo, either playing right or left back. Kelly will become a fantastic player and may even turn out to be better but he needs to learn positionally and he can only do that by playing so it will take another season or 2 with him


Edit: Maybe Sagna at Arsenal is the best thinking about it, his crossing and final ball is miles better than any other full back
