I didn't think we played that badly but we have reverted to really sloppy defending again. We very rarely conceded stupid goals such as that when Benitez was in charge and it doesn't seem we're getting a grip at improving on that front either. We got back in the game with two set pieces, then Hodgson dubiously switches to 4-4-2 which gave them the edge in midfield again. Strange, as I felt we had more or less control of it before we conceded our first goal.

Very poor start to the season but it was a tough one and considering we have got a lot of new personnel, including the manager, it's probably been on the cards.

Still, it's another season where we'll be playing for scraps in the league and I can see things getting worse when we lose Torres next season.
    Are we winning?

but Clare bats for her side so your still stuck with Bella.

if you like that type of thing

Well we have next 5 winnible games and if we get 15 out of 15 points, which we should, we will be in close contention for top 4.

For me the season of the turnaround starts now.

Absolutely. We played with 3 out of 4 best teams in PL (2 away) and it was difficult to expect more than what we achieved with the current team.

Quite a few postives for me despite the fact sitting here I want to smash Nani's face into the ground and kick the **** out of the cheating cunt.

Poulsen had a decent game. RM looks very useful. On a pitch that wasn't so heavy, the inter play between Cole, Gerrard, RM, Poulsen and Johnson will be much better.

We've always lost our fair share of games here, next match is must win.
I'd say in next 5 we should win every single one. If that happens we should have a great momentum for the game vs. Chavs at home.

Cole is the missing link imo. He had a good game and bar injuries he will deliver this season.

The only real positive thing imo in this game.

Liked his tackling, demanded the ball, was not afraid to pass long and foward etc.

          He had a good game.

Still, at least we wasted over £10m on the worst left back in the country, a central midfielder who doesnt have one good attribute and a crap back up keeper.

Those who can honestly say that Hodgson needs to be given time should face reality.

It was his decision to remove zonal and employ man for man and have Torres come back to mark Berbatov.

He has chosen poor players in Poulson and Konchesky and is not getting his tactics over to the players or if he is they are naive at best.

So give him more time and we will enjoy a relegation battle, he has had 5 league matches admittedly a tough start but we looked 2nd best in all departments, including passion.

How long do we wait? How much time do you give him?

Poor player motivation, poor team selection, poor and outdated tactics, weird subs, but lets all stick our heads in the sand and support Hodgson anyway coz that is what we do...

                yeayyyyyy happyclappers.

c'mon Hodgson, c'mom Hodgson ra ra ra...

not much in it i grant you

i think that even when it went **** with Rafa we could rely on certain things.

now those are not a given any more

                  is this Roys fault?

well i think the word fault is misleading, it is because Roy has or is changing how we play. Now in transition it isnt going to look great. He needs more time and its not a job anyone would relish at the moment is it?

we do look weaker now is that because

                  we have to sell players?

                  rafa has gone ?

                  roy has come in?

                  we are in transition?

                  all of the above.

it is possible that those who say Roy is **** are right just because he hasnt had the time doesnt mean they are wrong, however it is to early to really tell and you need to take everything into account the situation at the club etc

its a long road and we have to keep moving.
This is the thing for me, since when have we been a set of supporters that start asking questions of a new manager after five games. In those five games so far we are no worse off than last season. The only reason it seems worse is because it is at the beginning. As the season progresses we should improve and we may even end up with more points than last. As you say we have to take into account what is going on in the background and we have to see where we are much later in the season.

And we're well on the way to doing worse this year. We're not even controlling games against the worst teams the league and europe has to offer.

You've got to admit, it's really worrying.

As I've said before, Roy will need time... But I can't remember a new Liverpool manager making such an poor start.

He had an OK game but compare him to Mascherano's dynamism, he's well below that level.

First of all, he starts the game with 10 men! What was he thinking? It's hard enough to play away at the mancs, but to make such an audacious decision is taking the piss.

So we go down 0-2, and finally he decides to bring on the 11th player, N'Gog, and we immediately play much better and shock everyone by getting back and scoring two goals.

And what does Roy do? Takes off Meireles and gets back to playing with 10 men. As if he said "Awight, that's enough lads, we can't be too good now". Needless to say, we start sitting back and concede the 3rd.

                          Roy, what were you thinking.
He took Meireles off for Jova because the team was unbalanced. At that time you either take a central midfield player off or you take Torres off. That or Put Gerrard at RM.

I think we should probably have taken Torres off, but I guess we wanted a chance to win.
                          Forwards.......

Well we are looking worse than last season (and it is actually a worse start), we look far worse in defence and we have absolutely no concept of how to control a game anymore, we have moved backwards so far.

so who do we replace him with ?

who wants the job in these circumstances?

can we afford to sack him.

the blame lies in Texas and wherever the other ******* is.

Lack of scoring chances and players capable of taking them coupled with a leaky defence is a recipe for disaster.

I thought it was time we changed manager but only if we could replace him with someone better and sadly we didnt manage that at all

We should be less concerned about our results against these type of teams now,we are at a level well below that until we get new owners which is unlikely

This is my concern too. I think 3-2 flattered us today. Against what is really a poor United side defensively, we never really looked like scoring from play. Even when it was 2-2, United looked edgy (that long ball over the top to Meireles for example) but we just handed over the midfield to them and dropped off again. As things are at the moment, I dont see us scoring many at all.

Im saying now, no chance of Champions League next season and we could do a lot, lot worse.
