I think Konchesky will have better games going forwards, and defensively. Nani put him under pressure today from which I hope he learns. Until Aurelio can get match ready and stay injury free for 6 games in a row then I feel Konchesky still gives us a good balance for the easier games.

I would not read too much into it.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostEven Roy pulled out the big hook for Konch with 10 mins to go.
I'm not writing him off... But today was an eye opener.
He is the one who brought him to LFC. If anybody knows him it must be Roy.
If he didn't think he could get the job done, he could have had Carlos Salcedo for half he paid for Konch (which to me was always a better player but now Konch is here and that is it).Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Craig I agree with your assessment tbh, I thought we were pretty decent too
The main trap we fall into is..well..slow buildup I suppose. We played some neat stuff and moved Utd around but we really struggled to move up as a team and gain any territorial advantage. As a result when we did lose it United seemed to be onto our back 4 straight awaySack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

You're making out like Nani is Lionel Messi!! He's a decent player who's got a bit better lately. He still has plenty of shockers. And Konchesky getting done time and time against doesnt not matter just because O'Shea's and Nani's crossing was ****, we'll get punished plenty of times if he keeps that level of defending up.
People forget it was less than 12 months ago, that nani could not even get regular games at utd. Most utd fans I know of were ashamed to even call him a utd player. The quality of wingers in the premiership is awfuljust like our team any half decent winger, who could cross and has pace could easily get into our team. The fact knochesky was getting done by o'shea never mind nani says alot about his defending

Konchesky kept Nani quiet first half. He also started the second half well and put in some quality challenges on him.
But for the second goal he showed Nani on his left foot and let him have the freedom to cross. In fairness, 99/100 that is the right decision. Because Nani can not cross with his left foot. It was a very poor cross. But Carra was stood too far off Berbatov and even then Berba had to do a true moment of pure genius to score.
However, after that goal it seemed to give Nani a real confidence boost. Konchesky wasn't as happy to show him on his left and he did get run ragged. I don't know if it was a fitness issue but he looked shattered mentally.
But he wasn't helped by poor team communication. As for uniteds last goal when Agger was on, some poor closing down by the midfield when the opposition were loosely on a 2 on 1 with the full back. Just like at Birmingham we were slow to close down the man in support of the winger and were made to pay with a ball whipped into the danger area.
-----
Also on Konchesky. shocking for the corner and goal by Berbatov. If he stays on the post United don't take the lead. I actually see why he moved off the post as he goes to block the gap Berba has. But when Vidic ran out from the near post and took his marker with him, that opened up the near post area and Konchesky failed to adjust and get back on the post. Slack in the extreme.Forwards.......

Well, the fact that Roy took him off at 2 all to protect that wing, and play for the draw is pretty damning... Unless he felt Konchesky was knackered?Originally posted by Mostar View PostI would not read too much into it.

I will be happy if Konch is first reserve to Aurelio (when fit
).

And yes Nani was a joke figure at United. So was Fletcher and so was Berbatov. Fletcher started proving them wrong a while back, Nani started proving them wrong when he tore Clichy to pieces against Arsenal last year and has been on an upward curve since. Berbatov has started the season like a house on fire.
Players do improve you know.Forwards.......

Cannot disagree but chances of that happening are minimal at best.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
