Another worry, eh? Defensively again especially in terms of marking in the box from corner kicks, free kicks etc. we are having issues like the last year. It was Pepe's heroics vs. Brum that saved us but this time against Mancs it was clear that we may be struggling in this area again.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

This is the key. I'm giving Roy space as he's had a tough start and to expect much better away to United is unreasonable.Originally posted by peekay View PostWe cannot keep on using the excuse, XXX is a tough place to go so we should be satisfied with a draw.
But the time for excuses is very much over. From now on in I want to see results and if we don't start getting them then serious questions do need to be asked.Forwards.......

Poulsen played well. More so in the second half.Originally posted by pondus View PostHe must either change his mid-table-team-negative-****-tactics, or get the **** out of here.
And I think I saw someone give Poulsen a rating of 7 on here. More like a 2 IMO. **** player so far.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

If it was just the game against Man Utd at Old Trafford, I wouldn't be too worried, it's more the fact that in our opening 5 Premiership games we have only scored 4 goals, regardless of who the opposition is we should should be getting more goals that that, it's not like we've created alot of chances and wasted them, we've barely created anything.
Defensively we've been poor aswell. The defending of set pieces has been awful! I know that changing from zonal to man marking will take time for the players to adapt, and that mistakes will occur due to individual errors, whatever the system, but United's first goal today was only partly due to an individual error (By Torres) but the biggest problem for me was why was Torres marking Berbatov? It should be a defender, and that is a managerial or coaching error IMO. Also on the subject of the first goal, what was Konchesky doing? I'm assuming he was on the post, if so he should be within touching distance of the post all the time, standing behind the keeper is pointless, if he'd been where he should have been he'd have cleared that.
I was one of the Rafa backers on here last seaso, I could see that he had his problems and made mistakes, but when Roy came in I expected him to change things and make us play a different way, I knew he wasn't as tactical a coach as Rafa was, but I was willing to accept that if we were playing a different way. At the moment it seems like we are playing exactly the same way as we did last season, but with less tactical planning or awareness, and that worries me. Hopefully Roy will change the way we play, but I'm not sure he's going to because as far as I can see we don't have the players to play a different system. We are crying out for width and creativity, we have little of either at the moment as far as I can see.
for some Roy isnt Rafa so he will never be the man some want.
for some he isnt rafa and looking at the things you have said it is worrying and there are concerns
for some he isnt rafa and thats good
for others he needs more time
all have a certain validity.
however whatever your view we can and will not replace him with anyone better so what do we do. do we say look we were right about Roy he isnt good enough or do we back a nice man through some difficult times. in many ways the man has Liverpool qualities so perhaps we should to.
it is hard to see what is happening but being right about Roy not being good enough gets us where?

Little bit harsh. He was voted thus far by 15 posters in top 3 against Mancs.Originally posted by pondus View PostHe must either change his mid-table-team-negative-****-tactics, or get the **** out of here.

It's not just Alonso anyway, it's Alonso, Mascherano, Benayoun, a couple of more years on Carragher, Skrtel being chosen over Agger and a serious defensive downgrade on the the two full back positions as well as a significant reduction in squad depth.
Riise is better than Konchesky
Arbeloa is a better defender than Johnson
Skrtel has never kicked on from the form he showed in his first season
Agger is not in the team at centre back to carry the ball forward
Carragher, as stated, is two years older
Alonso won't be replaced, remains to be seen if Gerrard can do a similair job job
Mascherano every day over Poulsen
Torres is not the same player as two years ago
So no...its not just Alonso is the difference between second and relegation. Add into the mix uncertainty at board level, demotivation and a new manager's transitional period and you have a serious set of problems to deal with.
This is going to be so much worse than Houllier's first season in charge.
We should be happy with mid table if the early season is anything to go by.

my worry, still early days though. seen enough of cole and merieles to think they can be a big difference.Originally posted by Baracus View Postafter those games its chelsea!
If drogba and essien are still fit and on form i fear a most worrying day.
with the talent we have at our disposal, i still can not believe how badly we play.
Why Skrtel over Agger though? extremeky worrying_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
