The problem is that Roy is sending out to many negative signals. Like yesterday when he played Skrtel instead of Agger.

That sends out the signal that he is happy with a 0-0 draw and won't go for a win.

He sends out to many negative signals in his interviews before the games. He has now ruled us out of the title race. More negative signals.

The team won't play with better confidence when the manager himself don't believe in the team.

Stop being so bloody damn negative Roy. Start to talk about that the teams should fear to play us because they should. Start to talk about that they must beat us to win the game. Stop making excuses before every game.

      Hodgson - Torres improving

Reds boss disappointed with goals conceded at United

Roy Hodgson concedes Fernando Torres is still not firing on all cylinders following Liverpool's 3-2 defeat at Manchester United.

Torres has regularly tormented the United defence since his arrival in the Premier League, but he is struggling to hit top form after several months of injury problems.

Though he won the penalty and free-kick from which Liverpool scored their goals, the Spaniard was a largely peripheral figure at Old Trafford.

Hodgson felt Torres produced a better display than the one that came in for heavy criticism at Birmingham last week, but accepts the striker still needs more work on his fitness.

      Lot better
"It was a lot better, there's no doubt about that," Hodgson told Sky Sports.

"Fernando is still a player who needs more games and needs more time and more training. We will get a lot of tremendous use out of him over the course of the year.

"I think he was a lot better than the game against Birmingham, but I don't think he's firing on all cylinders.

"Having said that, we are playing against a very good team in Manchester United who don't surrender the ball to you that often."

Liverpool had recovered from 2-0 down to level through Steven Gerrard's penalty and then free-kick before Dimitar Berbatov completed his hat-trick with a decisive header six minutes from time.

Hodgson said: "I thought our second-half performance was good and I think we deserved to get back in the game.

"I thought we were a bit unlucky to go 2-0 down when we did and, of course, to concede late on is always tough.

"The three goals were from crosses - one a corner kick - and there is disappointment in that, but otherwise I thought we made a really good effort in the second half to bring us back in the game."

I really can't see why we signed Konchesky and sold Insua. He isn't better than him.

We needed to get in a better left back than Insua, not a worse one. We need a left back that is more complete than Konchesky. Insua had problems in defense and Konchesky is rubbish going forward.

We need one that can both attack and defend. One that gives the team the right balance.

I can understand that our left side hasn't played any good attacking football so far this season because the left sided attacker gets almost no support at all from Konchesky.

reading through some of this, i guess he was at fault at least partially for at least 2 goals? and he can't pass. paul konchesky can't pass. he can't pass. he can't cross and he can't pass. what does it take for people to understand? paul konchesky can't pass.

he lets players cross, and loses concentration, and he can't pass. he drifted away from his post defending a corner and they scored because of it, and he can't pass the ball.

          paul konchesky can't pass.
          paul konchesky can't pass.

every time we went through him, the ball went straight to united, because

          paul konchesky can't pass.

          hello?

          paul konchesky can't pass.

did you see the match today? did you notice that, in addition to all the others problems with his game, paul konchesky can't pass? because it's true. he's done nothing but give the ball away all week.

and it's because paul konchesky can't pass.

i was really dissappointed yesterday because once again we didn't show enough bottle to win the game. never once yesterday did the players believe that they could impose themselves on the game and ****ing win it. even after we came back from the dead - instead of going in for the kill when united were shellshoked we ****ing stood off them and seemed happy enough with the point. no self-believe whatsoever. you could see them ****ting themselves when going forward. that's what's makes it so hard to take.

Overall....first half atrocious, second half promising...until we equalised, and then we sat back and invited pressure and looked like the team we were in the first half.

Positives were Meireles and Poulsen. And Gerrard scoring, might give him a boost.

Agger for Konchesky was a bad sub, unless Paul was knackered i guess. Gutted O'Shea never got sent off, but i can see both sides of that...might have made a difference to the result. Might.

If we can play in the next five games like we did for 30 mins in the second half, with belief, composure and ball retention, we'll walk the next five games.

Roy's mentality is that of someone who expects to lose big games away from home. His idea of a good result is a draw.

I am really struggling to see where people find that decent performance yesterday. Besides two mistakes by the utd defence in making a clumsy penalty and leaving the wall on a free kick, we didn't produce a single open chance the whole game.

Going forward we were dire, and could hardly manage to string together 3 passes in a row and to often just kicked the ball upfield letting united take control.

Defensively we were not much better IMO, okay Berbatov second is stroke of genius but the first goal shows why Torres is not a defender (why was he marking berbatov??) and the scum produced plenty against us.

I really hope we can string together a couple of wins soon and get some confidence in to the team, because as it looks right now we will be nowhere near 4th come may. There is still plenty of time to turn it around, but we really need to get some positive performances soon.

Our wingers also need to start taking a more active role and especially Maxi is a dissapointment to me.

So far I can't see why our Skrtel is starting ahead of Agger he is not quite up to the task IMO, and lacks the calm that Aggers has and the ability to hold the ball a bit, right now we have two hoofing players in centre mid which anything but helps us against a team like the scum. But the reason might be, and as Agger said yesterday, that Roy prefers a simple defence strategy where we used to (under Rafa) to try and play our way out of trouble, which suits Agger better and he says that so far he is still trying to adapt to the more simplistic way of defending.

I feel absolutely sick thinking how bad we are defending this season

                              A few points:

Every cross flung into the box causes mayhem

We have NO ONE in our starting XI that's good in the air

Moving to man marking has so far been a complete and utter disaster (**** you Andy Gray **** you!)

Almost every player seems to suffer from poor concentration and are woeful positionally.

Konchesky is every bit as bad as I feared he would be

Torres' defending for the first goal disappointed me so so much

His lack of disgust in himself afterwards disappointed me even more

Paul Konchesky got raped by nani and on some occassions by o'shea time and time again. Utd could well have been 3-4 nil up if they had put the chances away or a decent option was picked out by nani. We were dominated and they did not even get out of gear. Time and Time again, we as a team get 'done' for pace
Considering how much they attacked down our left, koncheski did ok. Didn't get 'raped' as you suggest, in fact he was the only player to make tackles in the first half. With the ball he was crap, without it he was decent.
