And if I'd seen even a fleeting glimpse of promise or positive direction by Hodgson then I'd be saying the same.

Rafa did a decent job last season, not good bur decent. If you look at our situation at the start of that season then a fight for third, fourth place was realistic but not guaranteed. The club in a mess from top to bottom and he couldn't set up any good transfer plans because the transfer budget could change week by week. One week he could have £15m to spend and next week all the money could be gone without him knowing about it.

We ended up in seventh place last season and that was really all you could expect with Torres out more than half the season and Agger missing a few months. Everyone now see how important Agger is for our attacking play. Missing him that long time was a big blow.

You can then add that Johnson also missed several months and that meant that Rafa couldn't use the fullbacks the way he wanted to. Playing Lucas and Masch in the middle isn't as big problem if you have two attacking fullbacks that create the width. We didn't had that for a big part of the season with Johnson out injured. That meant that a lot of the play went through the middle instead of the wings. Almost no width at all.

Rafa didn't do a bad job, he did a decent job, not good or bad.

We were ineffective and certainly shot ourselves in the foot plenty of times, but it certainly wasn't the hoofball he's been accused of.

We're not shifting the ball quickly enough, and too many players give loose passes too often which then put us under pressure or kill off a promising move.

But that's down to those players quality because it tends to be the same players who do it most often.

Uninspiring, but certainly no hoofball. We played by passing the ball, but we didn't do it with much penetration, and there's a small (but not small enough) core of our players who don't seem to be able to handle passing.

Still think Johnson on right mid would give us more threat.

Still think we'll finish higher than we did last year.

I never wanted Rafa sacked but there's no doubt in my mind Rafa had a bad season still last year.

BUT, it was his first bad season with the club and there were HUGE mitigating factors there too. You don't sack a manager like Rafa after only one bad season.

The crucial thing here was that sacking him was always going to be a big mistake, as we were never going to be able to bring in a replacement of the same quality.

Still that's what we did, and there's no going back now , and The Rev is left trying to justify his blood lust for sacking Rafa even when there's overwhelming evidence it was a horrendous mistake, by backing the most inept manager we've had since Souness.

Wow, I have a lot more respect for you after that mate You weren't the only one to make the same mistake, and it was tough at times to back Rafa last year with so many defeats. Fair play to you.

For sure, the thing with Rafa is though even though we were playing poorly and not getting results there were signs that we could click and play for patches or at times we looked well organised despite being poor overall. We still looked like a big team.

Now this season; there's no heart, drive, winning mentality, organisation, any evidence of team spirit or anything to even slightly suggest that things will improve rather than decline further over time. We can't string simple passing movements together against lesser sides which is extremely worrying, since Roy's been in charge we've lost about each and every 50-50 challenge and some of our players (Cole I'm going to highlight in particular) just don't seem to have the mentality to do so, yet Roy doesn't seem to be bothered at all when it looks like some of our players are walking around with their finger up their arse.

I predicted his comments in the post match press conference and it's getting to a stage where it's just too much and I'm sick of it. We could play the poorest football in the world and he'll still try to claim that we played well, and god forbid we don't lose because then on top of it, it'll be fantastic to claim a difficult point because there are no easy games. He should resign now and save us all a lot of trouble.
"It was a good point. We knew it was going to be a tough game. The occasions when they created some chances were largely of our own making. They were the result of unfortunate individual errors. I thought the shape of the team and the way we approached the game - I can have nothing but praise for my team," said Hodgson.

This quote made me worry the most. I actually think he genuinely believes what he's saying now, that's how much denial he's in. The shape of the team was horrific and the way we approached the game was ****ing awful, I fail to see how he can praise any member of the team bar Reina for bailing us out once or twice. The players looked demoralised, wonder how much longer they'll be looking so much "happier in training" compared to Rafa when we're playing like **** each and every single game.

                      Very disheartening

One thing that is really pissing me off about Roy are his press conferences, he is either clueless or taking us for fools.

Roy will never get the best out of Torres, Gerrard, Cole or even Meireles. Aquilani would've never got a game if 120% fit just as Agger has been sidelined. Roys methods doesn't rely on top class players and neither will he play to strengths of our top class players. He has his system which he's been using for decades and he isn't going to change now, we'll never win anything under Roy, maybe a good cup run, and we certainly won't be getting back in to the top 4.

I still don't think it was,

It was just a huge mistake appointing Roy, I was quite excited about Roy and thought he would improve us.

                              I was sooooooo wrong.

Rafa over Roy everyday of the week.

Kenny over both of them in the interim till we get sold would have been ideal

Im sorry but when Roy criticized the protest the other day - when he said "it didnt help" that was such a diss to the pretty much all of us who are unhappy with the current owner situation. A post match protest should have absolutely NO effect upon what happens within the game himself and he should stick to trying to do what he's paid (no doubt a fortune) to do. I didnt see the game last night - i couldnt get ITV4 - so i "watched" it on teletext but seemingly i was lucky to have missed the shambolic and uninspired display. I did see the City v Juve game - which reminded me that football can be quite enjoyable to watch and some teams do have a decent go at winning a game - it was end to end. I couldnt help thinking Torres might do well at City with Johnson / Miller etc supplying him. And really its come to that for me - im thinking that one of the most amazing players who has played for us and who i adore would do better moving on to another team!!
So now we are ****ting ourselves over the visit of Blackpool - i'll say that again - Blackpool. If we draw or lose and Hodgson comes out with this woeful bull**** again then I'll add my name to the "he must go now" camp - which I never thought I'd be inclined to do. Sad times methinks.
